if we get the qb situation better.. i would go back to loving him HC at LSU.
i honestly am glad to have Les Miles over a ton of coaches. atleast the man does have class.

And I'd prefer him to just about anyone else out there (including Saban and Meyer).
Honestly, I don't care how lovable a goofball he is, I don't know many people who'd take him over Saban, or Meyer for that matter (if they were being 100% honest).
He's getting paid mega bucks to win football games. Whether he is a nice guy or a good family man is irrelevant. He looks good now because he's winning.
We all know that could change overnight and there would be packing boxes on his lawn if the team fades down the stretch.

He is not hoping they win in the end, he knows they can do it.
THAT IS THE MARK OF A WELL COACHED TEAM
I think that's one of Les' biggest attributes.
Apparently Lee said as much in his interview today.
He has supreme confidence in his PLAYERS to do the job.

pass to byrd v auburn falls incomplete
loss to troy at home
miss state punches it in inthe goaline
tennessee keeps 11 guys on the field
ball bounces like a football instead of a basketball v florida
There is a list you could make like that about stuff that has gone wrong too..
Tenn Katrina loss
Both OT losses in 07
I'm sure there a couple more that could have gin our way too...

I wouldn't say I love him but I certainly do admire the man. Geaux Les!

Probably just me.
But I honestly believe that.
If I was a Florida or Alabama fan, would I believe that? Probably not. But I think Meyer and Saban are generally shitball human beings (terrific coaches) and Miles is not. I like having a great guy represent the school.

I think that's over stated. It's never irrelevant to be a great person, regardless of profession.

still hold the belief that the failures of 2008 and 2009 are less on coaching (though they deserve some blame) and more on attrition at key positions.
some people (not you) can't seem to understand how much a good quaterback mean to your offense. They see all these play makers and just can't believe it's not the new orleans saints. GOt to have a qb.
You do see how well coached they are when lee is in the game do you?
I would even argue that those time management fiasco's don't even happen with lee at the helm. He is in control, JJ not so much

Dan from Chicago, you are a brave man. And I agree with you. If Les Miles ever becomes bad for LSU then he must go. But the program at LSU has ONLY improved since he arrived.

Miles has A "TEAM" the guys come together, help each other, stay out of trouble and graduate. These are high character guys that will give their 110 percent every saturday.

yeah, and not just qb either.
we were woefully thin on the OL last year. we had to start Josh D. and TBob (who are both now playing well) a year before they were read because guys we recruited didn't pan out (you can blame that on Miles if you want, I suppose, but it happens everywhere).
Loss of RP set this team back for at least two season.
Loss of OL/DL depth further increased it.

miles is just so unorthodox and different then every other coach. That is why people don't know how to lable him, don't know what he is going to do or what he is thinking.
Your prototypical coach:
brown
tubby
tressel
saban
meyer
stoops
richt etc. All have the same maneurisms and approach it seems. Miles way is different but acheive the same results

He's a great guy, one of the few HC's I'd love to meet and have a beer with. I'm still not convinced he's the best or right coach for us though. And I must say, I was 110% pro-Miles from 2005-2007.

it's all fun and games with all the shite he pulls until he loses
But he hasn't.
That's the point. He wins. Good coaches win the close ones.
Get over it.
You could take every loss and do a similarily pointless "what if" and LSU would have won.
That doesn't changs FACTS. Deal in the real world not some neverland of make believe and supposition. It's where we adults live.

People are obsessed with the idea that the only thing that makes a good coach is scheming.
Not true, at all.
For my money, Rich Rodriguez is the best scheming coach in the country (and he's a damn good coach). But he's got 0 national championships to show for it (yes, I know Les is lucky to have one blah blah).

but see, people don't want to hear this. They just want results. That is what is wrong with the world today.
Alabama has to play six teams with a bye week before they play alabama. They will probalby lose to more but will want coordinators fired etc.

That was the smart call. You have a chance for a score and if it doesn't work then you kick the field goal??? I don't see how that isn't the right call! Two chances are better than one!
People act like he was some sort of mad gambler that year when in reality many, not all, but many of lesticle calls were not all that gutsy.
