All he has is a stat line.

Exactly. Which is why that posters comment was dumb. Our greatest player ever is known for a stat line

They both maxed out their individual talent while playing a team game. I don't like criticizing players ,but just about everyone but Blakeney quit on the court today. It sucks ,but if you are honest with yourself , you know it's true.

Agreed. Has to be hard when youre expected and asked to do it all at 19. He's a great player but still needs a consistent team and a decent coach.

Shaq won a SEC title, made 3 NCAA tournaments, and set a NCAA record for blocks in a NCAA tournament game.
Don't say he didn't win anything at LSU.

So we won one SEC title with Shaq in 3 years. Ben controls his destiny to do that in one. Good. So he can equal the "accomplishments". He will also be the first sec player ever to finish in the top 5 of every category.

Ben Simmons is a good college player. Far from one of the best freshman of all time, but a good player. That said, he is not good enough to lead a team where we want them to be. Look at every championship team the last 15 years that has won a championship. It takes good guards and good coaching, LSU has neither. A PF who has no game except for under the basket is not the answer for the problems LSU basketball has shown since Jones got here

I would point out that there is a difference between Simmon's pretty good stats and leading the country in scoring for three years like Pete did. A record which will NEVER be broken. And for all the raves about Simmon's passing skills, Pete was by FAR the better passer. Pete is generally acknowledged as being the greatest passer and ball handler of all time.

For one thing nimrod, when Pete Maravich played they only let 32 teams in the NCAA tournament. There is no telling what could have been if they allowed almost 70 teams in back then.
In addition, setting NCAA scoring records without the 3 point shot which still stand today are hardly just a "stat line".
