Nuss is eerily similar to Max Johnson if we’re being honest.
How so? Personally, I don't see that. I thought Max had a good arm, threw a good ball, was never afraid of giving receivers a shot to make a play against decent coverage but sometimes held onto the ball a bit too long.

I agree with you.

I think it's plausible. Just listen to BKs press conference earlier this week. He flat-out acknowledges our passing game is anemic and has to change in order to be competitive against the upcoming tougher portion of the schedule. If he sees no improvement this week and he has explicitly stated it has to improve then logically he would be willing to switch to Nuss.
He’s also publicly stated how Nuss needs to make better decisions with the ball.
If it’s a tight game and our offense is playing poorly, JD stays in. You go with the safer choice in a close game and JD protects the ball.
If we are getting blown out, sure he may throw Nuss in there.

I agree with you there. I suspect though better decision-making is easier to improve upon than the JD shortfalls which sound like have been persistent from his ASU days. At least that's the sense I've gotten from posts from those who have watched his ASU tape.

No . Nuss has a much faster release and setup than Max and is pretty accurate . He needs playing time . Max liked to roll right as a left handed QB . He kept on doing it , too ! He then had to stop , reset to throw while he had a defender on top of him . ??

Well he shouldn’t have brought him in in the first place so…

Nuss has not had enough game time yet.....I think he would do well if he had the opportunity.

Agreed. I never picked up on that rolling right tendency; certainly becomes a much more difficult throw.

You guys shitting on Nuss need to STFU. The guy had a bad game against Southern. No one disputes that, but if you can't see that he was better his last two times out then you're just biased against him.
I'm not saying Nuss should start, but we sure as hell are going to need him when JD gets hurt again.
To get better he needs to play, because he can only improve so much getting fewer reps in practice and sitting on the bench. Why some of you can't/won't understand that is beyond me.
Right now, JD is the starter, and I hope we see improvement, but, regardless, the coaches still need to get Nuss ready for the inevitable.

Nuss did have a bad game against southern. I thought the receivers missed a couple of his passes last week. He did look better. His progression and surveying of the field is better as is his accuracy. I wouldn’t doubt promises were made to Daniels to get him to transfer but that’s a guess. He was better last year Ariz state as he consistently threw good long passes. Maybe the interceptions are the problem in his confidence as he threw a bunch last year. At any rate, I will go with the coaches for a while but he shouldn’t get the season if he is struggling.

I honestly think your are stuck with JD for better or worse this year. That’s unless he gets hurt and then the change will be made. But as long as JD is healthy he is your QB all year.

who will he replace him with?
Initially Nuss, but if Nuss struggles his leash will be short too and Walker will get his first chance with the 1s. Kelly wants this win enough that he will do whatever it takes to win.
In a game where you’re already losing due to subpar QB play, there’s no additional risk to putting Walker in and seeing what he can do against the 124th passing defense in the country.

No body wants to talk about the fact that receivers dropped 2 first downs that were on the money, Nuss actually looked decent in the last 2 games

If you have to look for your 3rd string QB to win, you have bigger issues than just at QB.

Coming into the start of the season, BK said it was a close call between JD and Nuss. I think we should take him at his word on that. JD has the job, and as long as the offense keeps moving the ball, he's probably going to stay in there. UT's defense doesn't seem so grand, so we should be able to move the ball. If that goes right, JD should be able to direct long time consuming drives, giving our D a chance to rest and keeping UT's offense on the bench (important with UT's hurry up).
If the offense ends up sputtering, I could see BK putting Nuss in. It might just be for a series in an attempt to motivate JD, but if Nuss does well he could stay in for a while. Doesn't seem that far fetched to me if they were that close at the start of the season. Then again, I could also see JD playing the whole thing.

What the f are you smoking? Do you even watch college football bro? Nuss hasn’t shown shite and they aren’t burning Howard’s redshirt. So go back to playing tiddlywinks and eating peanut butter by the spoonful, you ratchet arse clown.
Posted on 10/5/22 at 10:27 pm to geauxkoo
Based on what? He has not shown any prior tendency to lean toward a backup if JD is ready to go. This is getting stupid. Nuss can’t play. JD scared to throw downfield? The backup is in a constant state of sheer panic when he is on the field. Like Wtf is going on with you JD hating, Nuss forevever whack jobs?
