We haven't seriously contended for the SEC West since 2011.
In 2012 we had one loss and were leading Bama by three and had the ball on their 30 with 2 minutes left. The Bama fans were starting to leave Tiger stadium. I'd say that at that point we were contending.

If CLM does leave(which is very unlikely), Alleva will royally frick this hire up. Miles needs to stay. If we have a couple of key pieces back from this years team, we're going to be contenders next year. And I don't buy into the whole AH/BH is JJ/JL 2.0. Jefferson and Lee weren't that different talent wise. One could run the other couldn't. There's no doubt that Harris is physically more gifted than Jennings. If he puts in the work in the offseason like he should, there's no way that he backs up Jennings next year. There's no way that Les/Cam sit Harris if they feel he is truly ready and gives them the chance at winning championships. Jennings does what he's asked to do and seems more calm out there. That's his only advantage. He won't have that advantage next year. Harris will take the job this offseason IMO. And with that, and a couple of upperclassmen coming back, this team will be contenders. If Les leaves there won't be any contending next year, no matter what.

I love Les, and he is not going anywhere. Does he make every right decision when coaching, no. But, I also love my children, and get pissed off when they make stupid decisions.

I would really like him around but I'm all for him leaving if it prevents us from having to watch AJ start the next 2 years.....the guy just doesn't have what it takes in the need to develope qbs.
I want you to seriously think for one second where LSU football would be if Mett hadn't been kicked off Georgia's team. Miles' issue is simply he doesn't have the ability to make the right decision there and it will haunt us while he's in charge. Doesn't mean we won't recruit well and win games.

No one puts out 11-1 teams every year except the future HOF coach at Bama and maybe you can add Meyer to this. Miles wins. He has two SEC champsionships and one NC in 10 years. He also had us in another NC game after an undefeated season only 3 years ago.

We finished behind:
Bama: they are shooting for 4/6 national titles
State: best season ever
Auburn: returned almost everyone post national championship run
Ole Miss: best team in past 50 years
LSU played 17 true freshmen after losing a record breaking 2013 offensive performance and they were still in the hunt for an sec title.
Stop it damn you you are making to.much sense for the rant.........hahahahaha

People want Saban-esque results. They just lack the critical thinking it takes to come to the conclusion that it is highly improbable we hire someone who can do better than Miles.

A coach doesn't remain at LSU and win in the SEC as much as Miles has without making a lot of "right" decisions. Just cause Miles might not make a decision you or me agree with, it doesn't follow that his decision was wrong.
I would suggest that the LSU QB of 2013, recruited here by Miles, developed from what he was in in 2011. Seems to me that JL showed a fair amount of development in 2011 from what he was in 2008 except vs. Bama. RP seemed a better QB in the 2007 SECCG than what he was when he 1st got to LSU. I also believe a couple QBs Miles inherited showed some marked improved when they left LSU as opposed to when they arrived. I would have to be blind not to have noted the struggles some of our QBs in the last decade have experienced, but there have certainly have been others who improved as well. imo

He should have been fired 5 years ago.

I remember well,
then Chavis went into his "not lose" defense and we lost.
Where was our Headcoach ?
Miles is simply TOO COMFORTABLE in his job and until a MAJOR loss occurs and the noise level rises, he does not make the extra effort.
Contracts should never be EXTENDED beyond 3 years, much less 7 and definitely never a "coach in waiting"

LSU is 52-13 in the last 5 yrs which placed us in the Top 4 of BCS football.
Each to our own, but I would say your post makes no sense.

What's our record in the sec?

This is impressive in its own right BUT when you consider the lack of "hardware" we've won during this same period, in terms of NCs and SEC titles...coupled with some truly shitty bowls....it takes some of the luster off that record. Sorry!
PS: And I know we won the SEC in 11

"last 5"... which means is in the past...
I remember similar stats for Cholly Mac
..slightly lower, but not much..but could never get to the Big One.
I do not see Miles getting there in the near future...
specially not w/ the Playoff Sys just put in place.
2014 LSU Football Final Statistics = so far 8 -4
2013 LSU Football Final Statistics 10-3
2012 LSU Football Final Statistics 10-3
2011 LSU Football Final Statistics 13-1
2010 LSU Football Final Statistics 11-2
2009 LSU Football Final Statistics 9-4,
NOW THE TRUTH behind the sentiments...
it is not the Ws and Ls, it is
a)the way in which we lose
b)who we lose to
c)lack of offense development.
...the arrogance and stubbornness, I can not forgive...
and certainly will never forgive his SURRENDERING to Bama on 1/9/12
