Poche is going to be fine. We're spoiled with guys like Lange that can go the distance almost every outing. That's not what is expected out of every starting pitcher. Poche just needs to be managed and that happens to be something that Mainieri struggles with. We have a whole bullpen full of arms to bridge the gap from Poche to whoever the closer will be. If you get 6 out of Poche and only have to throw someone else or multiple some elses 2 innings I think you're doing ok.

i'm excited but realistic. with 8 new position players we are going to struggle at the plate and could see some inconsistencies on defense.
this series was damn exciting and we won all three. but, Poche' crashed (again) and LSU batted .229 with 25 hits; the EXACT SAME AS CINCINATTI. the problem was we have a lot better pitching.
so figure that out. we won't sweep a series batting .229 again. thank god for Lange. he'll give us one win just about every week.
i'm not trying to rain on your parade. i'm excited as well. it's just that often LSU fans get so worked up (optimism or pessimism) that we're almost scitzo. imo, this team is a middle of the pack SEC team but some of our new bats may surprise us.

Jared pitched 6 2/3 innings in his first game of the season, threw 93 pitches, only gave up 2 earned runs and held the other team's batters to a combined .190 batting average and that's "crashed"?!?

I am excited too. Regardless of our opponent, the fight our young guys showed should give anyone reason to be optimistic.
