Only play that sticks in my mind with Loston is when he tried to absolutely kill his cousin "Shep" in the UA All American game!

Taylor is going to be a really good Football player, IMO. He had some growing pains last year but he also made some plays. He just needs to get mentally more consistent, he has all the physical ability.

I think he deserved more credit than he got last year, especially early in the year.

The one thing I had an issue with that really stood out was in the Miss State game. On 4th and lon he intercepted a pass, when knocking the pass down would have given us much better field position. Now I know it's just instinct to go for the INT, but I'm just saying it's little things like that which helps a team out.

It was sort of a modern day cousin-version of Cain and Abel

Even LaRon Landry didn't start the '03 season as the starter. But he grabbed hold of it during the season, which allowed Daniels to move back to CB. Perhaps something similar happens in this situation.

My immediate reaction - "holy crap that was awesome, but don't ever hit him like that again."

A better way of looking at it is how badass would we be if Pete Carrol was at LSU. IM NOT A PETE CARROL FAN. But one reason you hear about all those stars at USC is b/c Pete had no problem starting a freshman if he was better, meanwhile LSU's benching our superstars.

Despite the rantings by many here, Miles has played true freshmen often especially when they are CLEARLY more talented. What he has also done, however, is play the more experienced player when talent is more or less equal.

You can't always see real talent if you don't play it in games. Even then, if what you say is true, I think i should have seen a little more Russell Shephard last year.

Lets not even go back to how JJ got his starting job in the first place. JL the more sr player screwed up until he finally got hurt.

agreed. all true freshmen should start at least 2 games so we can tell if they're better than the freshman we were dying to see 2 years ago.

Maybe you should go back and re-watch some games. I can tell you that I re-watched the bama game this week and Shep had to be told where to line up almost every time he came in the game and caused us to take a critical timeout in the 3rd quarter because he didn't know his assignment. He has even said himself he was lost much of the year trying to learn multiple positions yet rantards still complain about him not playing more. And before you blame the coaches, he was promised a shot at QB so the coaches had little choice but play him in multiple positions last year. He will be a much better player this year simply by knowing what his assignment is on every play.

this does not matter to rantards. All they care about is that shep is talented. Therefor he should be in every play. They can't look beyond that and figure out a reason for him not to play other than "Miles is an idiot".

Being the best athlete on the field, is different than being the best athlete on the field who can come in and understand play calling, where to lineup etc in a loud stadium with a play clock running.

A guy can be the best athlete on the team, look absolutely spectacular in practice, but that does not mean that when it comes to gametime, he is mentally and physically ready to play.

That being said, Shepard should see significantly more time this year, Loston should see the field, but Jai has been there for 4 years, knows whats expected of him and will be the starter
