Nutt: SEC 51-47

Damn, that's an improvement over Miles 8-8 the last two seasons. And throw in Nutt owning Miles head-to-head with 2 different teams. The answer is obvious.

The point is not who has done better in the past, it is who could have done better with all of what Miles inherited.

That we will never know...the only thing we do know is Miles took what was around and 3yrs after taking over LSU had another national title. All the rest is nothing more than conjecture.

Cause you see the sky falling, it doesn't follow that it will actually fall and cause I see hope for the future, it doesn't follow that there is...I just suggest we wait and see what happens before we start tearing apart a pretty successful program by most standards and jumping off cliffs, but each to our own.

Nutt is a Negatiger type coach. He's .500 SEC lifetime compared to Miles 28-14 SEC record. You can bitch about him & may stumble onto something. Rather than shaking your fist at the wind.

You Nega's can't handle 10 wins a season, so
Nutt could come in an win you 8 or 9 a season. Too bad about his recruiting..

Yeah, I don't want Nutt at LSU. He owns Miles though. Neither is an elite coach.

Realists understand Nutt will mostly underachieve and Miles produced LSU's first losing SEC record since DumNardo.

Miles is too elite for you Negatigers. You're more "Comfy" with a southern-fried country boy who could be coaching college football or just as easily be selling country sausage along the roadside.

You're just a garden variety Nega & Sabanista. Cut & paste would work well for you. You're boring really.

Certainly not a Sabanista. You must not have read many of my posts, just those that served your purpose.

If thinking that Saban > Miles makes me a Sabanista then so be it. I'm no particular fan of Saban. In fact, I think he was a world class a$$hole during his time at LSU. He was also a world class coach.

If thinking Miles is a mediocre coach in some way makes me a Sabanista, then I will wear that badge proudly.

No, that makes you a Bama fan.

Replying to da sandwich with logic only brings 2nd grade insults. You have to think like a child to remotely understand him. To truly understand him, imagine that same child dropped on his head repeatedly then posting on this board.

Yeah, he's 2nd best in conference now. Other than Saban who would you put in front of him?

I would put Saban, Spurrier and Nutt in front of Miles. Looks like Meyer is staying, so obviously I would put him in front of Miles as well.

Yep, Nutt's your man, the ultimate Negatiger coach. He puts on a heck of a showline show for Coach Watchers. He chews his fingernails & swings his arms back & forth like an ape. so you know he's "Got 'dat Fire".

Almost forgot! He's got that Saban recommendation too.

I certainly agree that we have to take into account starting positions, unique situations and trends. But when we do that we should consider it both ways.

For e.g. when spurrier ruled the roost here in the SEC there was pretty much no challenge to him - but just when folks thought there would be challenges he up and left to the NFL so we can't know how he would have fared now at Florida ( I consider the South Carolina SoS as a shadow version and not taking that into consideration) or if Nick could have even won that year had spurrier been there! This is part of the trends and if game not shown in statistics as you mentioned.

While you consider the trend that Miles is losing games to his "superiors" and will continue to do so - I saw the record state differently this year from 3-5 to 5-3 which is a remarkable difference.

I saw that he changed his DCs this year and brought in new coaches for the next year and while that might be slow for some folks I don't think it could have been done midstream

I take into account that Saban, with all his $4 million talk and Liar Liar reputation would put shoulders to the wheel and really gut it out for a few years.

At the same time we had a screw up with RP and it was Miles' fault for not having another QB ready and then forced to throw JJ to the fire and then him being scared of INTs and that screwed us for two years (not really a good thing)

Just like you have your "intuition/guts" based on a trend - I feel that Saban cannot keep on doing this because as we proudly boast to everyone else - this is the SEC where even USC/Ohio State/Texas and Oklahoma cannot win the Conference every year.

I certainly hope and feel that Miles will bounce back next year with or maybe without a win over Bama but certainly on the road to another SEC championship title within the next few years and possibly maybe even another title if we are lucky

BTW I am not a Miles apologist and really care only about LSU winning. I wouldn't care about perception if we needed a coach and if the only way to win was to get Meyer to come coach us with a public begging and $6 million.

I feel that a coach who brought us a title with or without luck deserves some time to right the ship (iff it has gone off course) if only because he gave us that elusive title - and believe me it is elusive. Consider that as gratitude if you may.

Except in Miles' case I think we are too close to the trees to see the forest and are perhaps being too affected by Saban being at Bama as well and mayhap the ship is not any more off course than any other ship but it affects us more being on it.

That's a lot of excuses. 8-8 versus 12-0. That's what matters. Stats and excuses don't count.

ok - that was a discussion amongst grownups who were using logic and civil conversation and not one-liners to deliver zings .

This was a post in reply to Nuts4LSU's comments. If you want to participate and it is a free forum - go back and read the fricking previous post about records and wins and losses as well as what the original conversation was about when I started my post.

ETA : actually never mind - I see that you consider Stats dont count either in which case there is not much that you can discuss/dispute with my posts because it was primarily with regards to statistics.

BTW 12-0 and 8-8 are called stats as well.
