I would rather play CU in Boulder...nice area.
Now, Texas Tech is so far away from Houston that they could benefit from the exposure...and Houston has so many alumni and is within 4 hours of BR...makes sense.

Until Tulane starts winning some games, they need to act like all the other small schools in the state and schedule the cupcake games, take the check and shut up. Once/if they get their talent level up to par, then they can't start trying to schedule home-and-away series. I want to say Alabama is even "kind" enough to come down here in the next few years to return last season's road game.

LSU even agreeing to play Tulane is the football equivalent of a mercy f*ck, but having to do so in New Orleans is like having to take the ugly fat girl, who smells bad and has genital herpes, to the prom.

I don't like what I hear from either side.
Tulane needs to STFU about their "fans" having to come to Baton Rouge. Seriously they don't have any "fans" left. They ran them off years ago.
LSU on the other hand is the FLAGSHIP university for the STATE, not just Baton Rouge. I think Mr Alleva can suck it up and have one game in this city every two/three years. I mean, your gonna schedule a game in Atlanta vs NC but you can't schedule something like that in NOLA? I call BS on all that crap.

Chicken, I agree. Another poster suggested Texas Tech as a possible opponent in Houston. Somebody suggested Texas, and I'm not averse, but Texas would very likely be a Home and Home (if it could be done at all, which is unlikely.)
aTm is still pissed about the last deal (and with some justification). Baylor and Texas Tech might be the most doable (assuming we don't want to play either @Houston or @Rice, which I do not.)

Yeah, that's a tough drive over on I-10 from New Orleans to Baton Rouge for all of the 37 or so Tulane fans making the trip. Killer journey. Tulane can't dictate where the game's going to be play when they bring so few fans. Yall either play us every year in BR or we aint playin at all. (which is just about to happen) Adios Amigos. I'm sure yall can find somebody else to subsidize your athletic department with a huge payout.
That being said, I'd rather play The Slime every year than any of the other state schools, but only in Baton Rouge. How about opening the season every year with Tulane in Tiger Stadium, beat the hell out of them as a good warm up and then move on?
Follow the TU beatdown with a decent OOC team like a Southern Miss/Troy and then step it up with a real "Quality" OOC opponent before moving into the SEC schedule..........

Just kind of a "leave the money on the dresser" situation, huh?

LSU vs. CU would rock. We could turn Mike loose when they run Ralphie on the field!!

There are literally NO BCS conference teams that I can think of who would agree to play a neutral site game in New Orleans, except possibly Auburn, and even that would be a huge stretch.
And I'll say this - LSU should NEVER play a neutral site game against a non-BCS conference opponent (unless it's Boise St., or Utah, or that caliber team), and it should go without saying that LSU should never play an away game @ a non-BCS conference opponent. It doesn't make sense financially, football-wise, prestige-wise, there is literally no upside for LSU.
Now, somebody mentioned CU - a game against Colorado (or perhaps even Utah) in Dallas would be very, very intriguing. Perhaps in the Cotton Bowl? Just brainstorming here...

BS. Why wouldn't a Nebraska (or another school that has recruited LA well) come here to attempt to re-establish a base? Im not saying LSU every year, if a Bama will play in Atlanta two years in a row, why wouldn't another or many schools? If the fricking peach bowl can get it done than why can't the Sugar Bowl committee? just saying

Certainly Southern would give us a more entertaining game than Tulane.
Added bonus: NECK throwdown at halftime!

I like playing Tulane in football each year. They've down a good bit for a good while, but the series still has some spice. Maybe its because when I was at LSU we were only 2-2 with a 48-7 pounding and that humiliating 31-28 loss.
I hope we get to play North Carolina in Atlanta next year. With that said, we negotiated a very favorable contract in 2005 with Tulane for 10 yrs: 6 in Baton Rouge and 4 in New Orleans with the ability to secure the majority of the tickets.Whereas I hope we can work something out for 2010 for the proposed LSU-North Carolina game, LSU should honored its end of the deal on the Tulane series.

let Tulane rot and stop subsidizing them. too much venom is spewed from Greenie fans for us to help them fund their athletic program. If they were more cordial, or at least less bitter, i would say go ahead and play them.

I saw where some mentioned games with Houston. I've heard rumors that some Texas schools have deals with UT to not play LSU at home to limit our exposure for recruiting. Any truth to that?

Agreed. If it weren't for Katrina this rivalry would have died 4 years ago!

And I love you guys doing the pre-game, 4 corner salute, and all of that, and playing during the game, but wouldn't you agree that TGBFTL should just cede the field at halftime to The Human Jukebox? Maybe duel with them from the stands? Otherwise, just putting our people's business all out in the street could be humiliating.
ETA: Honorary Captains could be LTG Thomas Rhame (Ret.) for LSU and LTG Russell Honore (Ret.) for Southern. It would make a great Veteran's Day game, and we could call it the "Baton Rouge Bowl", or the "I-110 Bowl".
