Just in case some of you were unsure about the DBU distinction, LSU fans are arguing about which LSU players are worthy of a 1st round pick versus a second round pick.

I think he'll be more of a 2nd-3rd rounder, but his stock may reach first round after he tests athletically...I'd imagine he'll run sub 4.4.

This.
Combine results should put him in the first round. If they are drafting based on current value he'd be round 2.

that website is walter football. for whatever reason they are extremely biased towards LSU every year. thats the site that projected us having 5 first rounders last year. its also projected people like ego ferguson and anthony johnson as first rounders as well.

I guess people are suddenly forgetting how well Jackson played this year.

Tre White was barely a first round pick

Mock drafts are all over the map. The cbs draft section doesn’t even have Donte in the top 10. He has great measurables but his inconsistent play is a yellow flag that could make him a day 2 pick instead of day 1. People citing Tre White forget that he came back for his senior year and had a great senior year. NFL GMs tend to be impressed with guys who are team players like Tre. That’s not to say they hold it against the early entrants, And not saying that Donte isn’t a team guy. But Donte isn’t a finished product yet and Tre White might be a good model for him to follow. Tre earned nearly $6 million this year. In contrast, Tharold Simon has earned $2.2 million in four years and is likely done.

And his film will show hands of stone, and the propensity to be out of position/trailing the play.

Coaches will see these things as something they can teach. You can't teach speed.

I believe his point is that white is a hell of a lot better than Jackson. He actually had very good cover skills.

Lot of kids put way too much value in speed and arm strength. Sure, those are great qualities to have, but without good technique or accuracy, their benefit is largely reduced. But hey, he fast mane.

Lmao

So you are saying he is a project. Or maybe he had poor coaching at Lsu is why these didn't improve. You can't teach instinct and a nose for the ball either. I agree he is a project. You don't take projects in the first round, unless you are Cleveland

I can’t remember playing some of the first Madden games and John Madden saying that’s why he plays cornerback and not wide receiver. The stone hands does not matter when you’re talking about a cornerback

Day 2 of draft probably best case scenario.

Anyone who follows draft rankings would tell you this is a ridiculous comment.

You can reasonably argue Jackson could drop to the second day, no problem there.

But to suggest his best scenario is getting drafted at all ignores all of the many services that have him projected in the second or third round.

I would be surprised if he made it into the first round. I would not be surprised seeing him picked in rounds 2-5. There is no way, barring injury, he goes undrafted. He has elite speed and started for LSU.

If he runs a blazing time at the combine (as expected) NFL teams will take notice. Plus, I think CB is probably becoming an even more desirable position for NFL teams in light of the fact that probably the two top contenders for NFL ROY are CB's (Lattimore and White). He'll also get a boost from LSU's reputation for producing DBs with the thought being "if this kid is good enough to play significant snaps for three years in an always loaded secondary then he's probably pretty damn good player."

He will blow up the combine.

Also, his work in the nickel & his tackling is a huge bonus.
