If I’m a GM with all other things being equal I’m taking the guy who didn’t quit and wanted to compete. I’m not saying sitting out is a deal killer but it is a factor. A guy who sits out this last season is a guy who will slack off in the pros, miss “voluntary” workouts, and skip game film study.

Not if Chase was playing in an offense like Alabama’s has been Smith’s entire career. Put Chase on that Alabama team, he has every bit as good a season as Smith did this year and he had himself last year. Put him on our team with two true freshmen QBs then yeah probably not.

The NFL doesn’t care that Chase sat out. He’s a better all around receiver, he’ll probably go first. Him not playing hasn’t changed that.
I know people will downvote me for saying this: the Smith worship in here is sad. I don’t wish the kid ill, but I’m never going to fall all over myself to praise and LA kid who stars at Bama. No thanks.
