I think Lsuhoohoo is only trying to say that the coaches should've given lee more playing time this season so he would be better prepared. I agree with him, 3-5 snaps or whatever against vandy and msu was not near enough

This. Last year was different because Jefferson didn't overall play terribly. But this year Jefferson has struggled in every game so far. You would think they might have the foresight to get Lee some playing time in our early games (more than a couple passes and handing off) due to Jefferson's regressing play and the chance that we may not be able to go forward with him anymore. But they didn't and Lee will only have Tennessee under his belt going into a damn tough place to play. Is that enough? Probably not but its going to have to be.

Hes barely played this year despite shite play from Jefferson and now hes likely to start his first road game in 2 years in one of the toughest places to play thanks to the recurring brilliance of our coaching staff

You are aware that it either took you an abnormally long time to come up with that long post of yours, or you just don't want to admit you didn't read the whole thing.

It's ok, I replied with just about exactly what you said a few post before yours.

Here were his stats from his last three SEC road starts (all 2008):

Auburn: 11-22, 182 yards, 2 TD (including game winner), 1 INT (pick six)

Florida: 23-38, 209 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT

So. Car: 16-26, 189 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT

He had game winning late game drives against both Auburn and So. Car. It's funny. Looking at these numbers today, they look fantastic. Back then, all we did was bitch.

So, to sum up, as a freshman in three SEC road starts, he went 50-86 (58%) for 580 yards (193 ypg) with 4 TDs and 4 INTs with 2 game winning drives.

Sounds like a legend in the making right now.

I never said I didn't want Lee to start. I'm off the Jefferson train. I supported him coming into the season but hes lost me and I think its time to go back to Lee.

My point of all this is Lee should have gotten more playing time up to this point. The confidence he has in his play thus far this season is solely based on his performance against Tenn and mainly from that last drive. The thing I'm concerned about is that yanking him on that last drive after he lead his team down the field might hurt his confidence because that drive is basically what hes got this season.

It was the pick sixes combined with the bad D. Our D gave up 31 points per game in SEC play in 2008. Lee's numbers weren't awful. Its not like hes the first freshman QB to throw a bunch of interceptions. The anomaly of constant pick sixes killed his confidence though. I do think had we stuck with him, he would have built upon that year.

I agree with you completely. I was trying to explain it to the people that didn't read all the way (or were in the reply screen).

I've been screaming for that since before the season opener. For the life of me, I don't understand Les' affinity for JJ.

I'm guessing Les sees what JJ COULD become, instead of see what he is. JJ is Les' Aaron Brooks. If he starts or just sees significant playing time, then LSU loses.

I understand what you're saying. It's just that I was actually curious as to how he had performed in those road games and he wasn't bad at all. Even in the Florida game, he showed a lot of moxie in making it close for a little while (20-14) when it looked like the Gators were going to run away with it (and eventually did). I think his confidence was absolutely shot last year and the coaches decided that we would be better off with JJ. I don't criticize that move and, hey, we were pretty darn good last year considering we couldn't run the ball and were in the first year of Chavis' system.

Except you are leaving out that of the, what 15 picks in 08, 6 or 7 were pick 6's. I agree that JJ is not the answer, but stop with trying to make Lee the greatest QB of all time. The kid needs work, as was evident in the Tennessee game, but we should all agree at this point that he has to be used a lot more than the clowns with the headsets have used him so far.
