LSU got shoved by this exact type of pitcher last night. It can and does work. Sometimes, it's really nice to have a guy who can just throw strikes, even if they barely touch 90. LSU has been out matched by lefties like this in post season baseball within the last 15 years. This is one of Jay's biggest downfalls as a recruiter and coach

We had a bunch of players acting like clowns in the dugout wearing stupid hats. They thought they had it in the bag.

That's 100% on the coach if true.

Shores and Mayer can hit 100 with their fastballs.

I don't care if they can throw that SOB 250mph, if you can't locate it, it don't make a flying crap!! You've got two of the top guys in baseball and the rest are as inconsistent as the weather in the deep south in the summertime! And offensively, Jones and Braswell killed their team at the plate last night. If this team wins tonight, something is going to have to take a turn for the better.

Shores had been improving until last night. He has good stuff,

Throwing 99 doesn’t necessarily mean he has good stuff. Most of the year, his fastball had been flat and it got teed off on

This would rank with the dismissal that Stony Brook issued to the Tigers. It could happen.

Ehhh. Stony Brook was under rated with multiple upper classmen that were drafted relatively high. They also had just gone down to coral gables and won a regional from Miami.

LR is not that. This would be way worse.
SB ended up 52-15 and ranked 8th in the nation.

Reflection of their head coach. Maybe Jay will come out wearing a sombrero tonight to turn in the lineup card.

I made this argument before the first game. You always pitch your best guy. Never play for tomorrow

Who was pitching better over the last month- Evans and Cowan or Noot and Shores?

Last night sucked and they obviously folded and didn’t deliver, but look back at the recent results and re-think what you are talking about.

LSUfan1971: totally agree with that philosophy, play to win the game your playing not the next one.

100% factual

It is the most casual of all casual takes to compare LR to Stony Brook in any way, shape or form. The fact that it’s all over tRant today says a lot.

For fricks sake you sound like the dumbest person I’ve come across in 20 years on here. And your type is a dime a dozen so that’s saying A lot.

We already have an SEC version of that guy in Cowan, with a fastball in the low 90s that he has to use judiciously in conference play. Notice that as soon as he had any control issues with his breaking ball, teams started shelling him.

So yeah, you can have a guy with low 90s stuff and location, but they have to be ELITE with location to survive in conference play. And you can’t have guys with less stuff than Cowan hanging around on the roster now that the size has been cut down by the NCAA. It’s a pipe dream to think you’re just going to go find a random ragarm with a decent curve and a 80s fastball that twitches a little who’s going to be competitive vs our schedule.

Fair point. Losing to LR would be an unmitigated disaster.
