Clemson offered the kid 3 weeks before signing day.
And a week after LSU offered. Too much water under the bridge by that time.

People get pissy when presented with the fact that Etienne was slow played by two different LSU head coaches.
This is the long and short of it. Etienne was 2nd fiddle for both coaches, and he signed with another school because of it.

The status quo was the order of the day in the interim period.
So... did Orgeron offer right after he was named permanent is the question? If he did, THAT is the tale of the tape regarding Orgeron and Etienne and on the previous staff, IF that's the chronology, regarding the too little too late (i.e. being spurned).
He absolutely did not.
He was hired November 26 and offered December 27.
O went after Akers just as hard as Miles did.
This is all typical Prince Propaganda and JV just trying to earn points by covering for a guy that puts loyalty over everything else.
For the record, he could have been standing on the same table for a month after O was hired.
So he could be talking about both O and Miles.

It's not like Akers is some scrub. He played on an awful team in 2018, but he had a pretty good freshman season. Kid has talent.

I just read that whole thread.
Didn't really clear up who the decision maker was, but
whoever it was, they were incorrect.
That kid was a beast last night.

Recruiting is a multi-year process.
Look, I get it. The kid has turned out to be a great RB, and it stings losing one from our own state. But, I really don't fault anybody for missing on him.
Akers was clearly the better prospect at the time, and we were the favorite to land him for a while.
Maybe you could argue that Les should have offered both, but at time we had the following on our roster:
Fournette (So.)
Williams (So.)
Guice (Fr.)
Brossette (Fr.)

He was named HC the week after Thanksgiving, right? He offered Etienne on December 27th, so a month after he was named HC.
There's no guarantee that offering right after, and mean within 2 days, being named permanent would have been sufficient for Etienne.
However, that would have sent a strong message to him that 'we are different, and we want you' if he had offered him immediately after being name HC. It would have been a much different message to TE than waiting almost a month.

This statement only makes sense if you feel like Etienne is too stupid to realize that LSU had 2 different head coaches during his recruitment.
I personally don't think he's that stupid.

Ok...
We also took Seth Stewart late and Moffits sonnon scholarship. I think we could have made room for both.
People act like Os hands were tied with the 2017 class, but really he helped build that class.
He was supposed to get Wilson and Akers.
We ended up finished pretty strong with Chaisson, Phillips and Tyler but people act like O had no say after the first 20

Apparently Orgeron didn't like him either. Orgeron was named interim coach in September. LSU didn't offer Etienne until December 27.
Was to busy working on the binder

the Rant thinks this can be reversed in weeks.
Then explain why he signed with a school that didn’t offer him until 3 weeks before NSD?

Clemson offered Etienne in January.
Clemson had also just won the national championship versus LSU starting over with a new coach.

They just won a national championship and LSU fired its coach.

Ha Ha Ha, you are a mental midget. Don't project your insecurities onto me man. I am not Bamasessed like some on this board.
You're Orgeron obsessed clearly. Creating an entire thread on how it isn't his fault that LSU didn't land Etienne.

If Orgeron sends him an offer the day he is named permanent HC and explains the situation to him, you don't think that goes a long way with a kid who apparently "loved O"?

Oh I completely agree.
Not knocking O or Miles.
Just the idiots trying to act like this was some “royal frick up” for one and not the other.
As if O wasn’t a huge part of all recruiting decisions since being brought on in January 2015. That was his reputation, and Miles wanted him around for his input in recruiting no doubt.
But acting like O had some vision on Etienne because he called him as interim, dude probably called 100 kids that day
The offer is the truth.
He waited until it became clear he wasn’t getting Akers.
This is a whole lot of dumbass spinning by the resident spinster and his Posse.

The phone call from Ed Orgeron came soon after LSU hired him as the interim coach in 2016. He wanted to talk about Travis Etienne.

"He said, 'This is what I got, this is the board that I've inherited. If something happens, we're going to recruit Travis,'" Phelps said. "I really appreciated him being upfront about all that."

He is talking about Les Miles.
So, Les is fired. Travis is starting his senior year. O starts directing program and three months later O, the great recruiter, gets around to offering Travis. But Les is to blame when he picks Clemson in February.
Some of you guys crack me up.
