Boutte was much closer to a 4.4 guy before the injury. Go watch the UCLA game. Dude had a crazy burst.

This. He clearly lost some juice with the injuries. From seeing his lack of motivation, that seems to be on him, he has done himself no favors. I agree that he was targeted early this year and lost JD's trust.

If you want to be a first rounder, you make the tough catches. His failure to do so will show teams that he may not be worth the risk to get his juice back. Nothing worse than a WR who is a diva when he loses his greatest weapon (speed). You have to show you'll still catch.

This answers a lot of questions on why Boutte could never seem to separate from defenders and get open. Small receivers that slow have a short stint, if any, in the NFL.

No one was gaining on him during his long TD receptions and runs.
He had to be faster than the DBs.

The first time I threw him a touchdown pass down the middle right in his belly and his hands and he wasn’t even looking that would be the last time I threw a ball to him. I surely wouldn’t be looking for him.

In hind sight, he should have transferred. It sure helped Trey Palmer.

Especially ones who are not elite pass catchers, as he has proven he isn't.

He doesn't suck. He doesn't give 100% effort on play.

I am glad he missed the bowl game to prepare for the combine. If he would have played he may have ran a 5.5 forty.

Its interesting how "Fans" shite on a player after he is injured.
Boutte saved us vs hated enemy Ole Miss a couple years ago. He gets injured and plays with a QB who couldn't throw an accurate pass on time if his team depended on it, but its the receiver's fault.

I recall an easy little crossing route, where he was wide open and the ball was on time, and nobody near him. Ball bounced off his hands. Trying to remember if it was Miss State, I do think it was at home. He was coming out of the slot, on the right side of the line.

If I remember right, it was the game before the one he didn't dress out.

No the tape shows he was that kind of athlete but the injury robbed him of athleticism. It sucks but it happens.

This just goes to show you how much he relied on that athleticism and it perfectly explains his bad year in 2022
