I'm in college, drunk, and want to have a good time. I say "kick their arse" and added "you suck" to oh-wee-oh.
1000% acceptable....
"suck a tiger dick"
this isn't even debatable. I'm sure there will be students that try to justify it. But there's a line you don't cross when you know there are kids in the area. My point is that 99% of these students need to know that and act like it.
Agreed.
To the students doing all this. You are making yourself and your university look bad. Plain and simple. I know you don't care, but other people do care about thier reputation and will take steps to protect thier reputation. They can't "stop" you from cursing and saying thing like this and you can exercise your "right" to say these things. Just don't think your rights are unqualified. There is no unqualified right to free speach. You can say you hate a certain group or people, just don't be surprised if that group of people don't treat you very nicely. If you chant obsenities during a song, don't be surprised that the song is no longer played.
Action = consiquences.
And as an Alumni, I want to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who isn't carrying thier weight this year. Miles on the field, Students with your cursing on TV, People who can't pick up after themselves after tailgating, People stealing things while people are tailgating, I'm looking in your direction.

I have no idea of the logistics involved, but 11am kickoffs would definitely deter some of that behavior...
I would be opposed to it because I can get boozed up, go to the game, and handle my shite like an adult. I like the opportunity to watch night games at TS...I say ban the students for a lesser game and watch the fun ensue

I'm certainly no law professional, but I don't think any pissed student would have a legal leg to stand on.
It doesn't quite matter if they have a legal leg to stand on does it? I mean, it would for a win in court obviously, but I could totally see a band of students who don't want to conform to whatever's being thrown at them sue whomever they want about the matter. come now, it's very possible, whether it's legally stupid or not.
that would also, btw, equal to some embarrassing press.

ive been going to games all my life, and this is my 4 year in the student section. and i will never understand the fascination with adding profanity into every song the band plays. theres really no need for it except to make a freshman frat boy giggle.

Banning students from the games would have detrimental long term effects on the program. Today's students are tomorrow's fanatics, donors, traveling fans, bowl game attendees, and season ticket holders.
Probably best not to alienate your fan base and your future revenue stream because a few people got their panties in a wad over...swear words.

this needs to be put in the paper or on WAFB, something.

That reminded me of my business law professor: she had a great sense of humor and always said, "You have full right to sue whomever you like for whatever you like. That's your right as an American. However, just know that in the process, you run the risk of looking like an ABSOLUTE IDIOT to everyone around you!"

I think it would depend on how LSU did it.
If they did it strictly from a punitive stance, then yes.
It would be better if they did do it (doubtful even under the most extreme of circumstances) to cite all sorts of PC stuff about preserving the legacy, traditions, and quality of LSU Football and athletics, blah, blah, blah...
I'd venture to say only the chemically imbalanced or bratty students/fans would have a longterm, adverse reaction.

I'm not blaming the student section for the confusion on the last play, but they certainly made it worse by keeping the players from being able to hear the call..
it's shite like that which pisses me off most.

...and when dinosaurs roamed the earth in 87 a cheerleader was shown on TV saying "arse-holes, arse-holes, hahahahaha" which is what the student section yelled during a part of the fight song (also banned). they played it after extra points - there was a whole other section after the 1 note (after PAT made)
i miss those days :)

Man, just think about this. If LSU students CAN'T EVEN GO TO THE GAMES, of course far fewer of them would become lifelong supporters of the program. You can't develop a fanatical bond with the program if you can't even go to any games when you are attending the very school that sponsors the program.

But overall to you old asses who talk about how perfect the student section was in your day, you need to gtfo. A lot of students don't say that shite and as perfect as your little section was back then I'm sure there were still frat douches doing the same type things.
frats didn't sit in our student section...they had their own little playground in the stadium when i was there

I'm assuming you are a student. I'm not saying this as an attack on you and I don't think not allowing students into the game is a good idea at all. However, if students get so butthurt because the University doesn't allow them to go to a few games because thier actions are detrimental to the reputation of the University, that they decide not to ever be a fan again, then your generation is truly lost and they weren't fans in the first place.

I'm not in support of banning students for all games.
First, you'd have to start a strong campaign to get them to stop being vulgar with pending ramifications if the undesired behavior doesn't stop.
If the behavior persists and persists, then ban them of ONE game, a lesser game like ULM or McNeese...that would get people to behave.
Yes there will be pissed off students, but in the long run, once their balls drop and they grow up, they may appreciate the University taking such measures to maintain the experience and tradition.

I honestly don't know why people even mention not allowing students to go.
LSU is college. A college is made up of students. The football team is students. Without students there is no college.
There will never A)be a ban of students or B) a smaller student section. Ever.
K thanks...
