What's does the conference USA have that the WAC or Sun Belt or Mountain West doesn't have?
A better TV deal, more bowl games, and more conference revenue.
CUSA got to select who they wanted to invite from these other conferences. They took Tech from the WAC and North Texas and FIU from the Sun Belt.
So there is a pecking order even among the Non-AQ leagues.

LMAO I am a grad of La Tech and am ashamed of the delusional anti-LSU sentiment from their fan base. Like a jealous little brother, La Tech is a third rate athletic program and will never be first tier. Kills them that LSU has any success

Why didn't CUSA choose ULM for membership instead of Tech? Was ULM (or ULL) even considered by CUSA?
You are speaking about C-USA, the conference that just lost Memphis to promotion. MEMPHIS!!! Who opened up the season with a loss to UT-Martin.
And I say this as someone who grew up there loving Memphis basketball, and feeling sorry for the football team. But just damn. Know your place. It is evidently below the current worst football program in the FBS, that just happens to be good in the 2nd most popular college sport. You were Memphis' replacement in a bad conference. That is LA Tech's reality, like it or not.

Memphis has a pretty good BB program and they can et 40,000 fans to football games when they are winning. That was attractive to the Big East (a BB league).
I would rank the non-AQ leagues like this:
1. Big East
2. CUSA
3. MWC
4. Sun Belt
5. MAC

Tech grad, lifelong LSU fan who lives in BR. LSU wins 41-10.
Saying that, the interesting note is that LSU fans are taking the time to argue who wins. Five years ago this thread goes 2 pages. Tech is on the rise and its the first time that LSU has to share "some" on the spotlight. It might be a very small portion, but that gets under a lot of LSU fan's skin.

Well said, I would cheer for any success for Tech, but will never understand the adamant LSU hatred.

It's just that Tech fans would like to see our program develop into a program like LSU's and we can never do that if our students are driving to Baton Rouge every Saturday.

Just as an actor should never go full retard in a role in a movie, the equivalent for a fan of football should never go full UL-Lafayette...

Tech has classic second string syndrome. I love Tech and Ruston, but most Tech fans have been getting the short end of the stick for years and now rightfully so have a complex about it.
After years of disproportional funding from the state and fans driving past Tech to go see the Tigers play will cause hatred. I completely agree that their is no need for it.

I think if Tech could get another 10,000 fans in Ruston on Saturdays there is no reason we couldn't be another TCU or Boise St with all the talent in this area. Casual football fans driving to Baton Rouge instead of Ruston hurts us a lot.
