It's funny the guys on their intellectual high horses claiming that they knew all along that he had no offensive game. They act like everyone else was stupid and didn't know what they were talking about when the expected Simmons to come in and take over games. Everyone thought Simmons would be a mismatch offensively and be able to score the ball. Now that it's obvious his offensive game is severely lacking, people like you claim, "we knew this all along. You rantards need to appreciate his game for what it is. Y'all set unreasonably high expectations."

typical ranter mentality

From what I've seen no one is bashing him too bad, rather only giving solid options which are for the most part are true at this point in his career. Expectations were in the stratosphere, which was probably unreasonable. But, we are barely off the fricking ground, which is unacceptable. It's not all on Ben, but he is the most hyped player to come through college in a number of years. With that kind of talent you generate a certain responsibility to take on criticism when your team consistently performs below par.

Its not OUR expectations dumass. Its the whole basketball world. He has great skills but is still raw and his lack of a jump shot is hurting his ability to score at will. He's not getting much help at times, granted, but did you really expect this team to be this mediocre at the beginning of the season with him coming aboard?

This isn't a complaint, because I like Simmons ans what he does - and my dreak is for the Pels to tank and land him (though I do wish he'd focus on scoring more than he does in some games). But a lot of the apparent hate comes from the hype. When he came in, I was under the impression that he could knock it down from 3 range on the reg because there were several hype videos that showed him doing this (as well as halfcourt shots). It was quite a surprise that he is afraid to take 8 foot jumpers given the way he was presented. The early losses were simply because "this team" wasn't on the floor then. With Victor and Hornsby in from the start, this is at worst a 14-4 team right now and no one is complaining.

I think going 1-11 in the first half and continuing that to the second is why we lost, nothing was dropping.

I'm just saying the dude isnt doing enough to help this team win consistently.

Such an idiotic way to look at it. Averaging 19/12/5 isn't enough? We're not good now, but we would be utterly atrocious without Simmons. Our problems begin and end with coaching. End of discussion.

I think he has phenomenal talent. I think LSU has a coach that probably should be coaching a smaller high school. After this year I expect even his recruiting will suffer....given what he did with this team. Its a joke.

Lol. They will have at least 12 losses...if not thirteen.

the reason we lost is because A&M is a better team. Its plain and simple.

Plus, Simmons gets going too late and last night never got going.

Also, you can't win just because of ONE player, it takes a good coach who knows how to use his players.

We lost because A&M is a better team right now, and our team has not figured out how to respond to adversity on the road. It's that simple.

so we go 4-1 in SEC play and then lose to a top 10 team and you extrapolate 13 loses??

you do know that this game counts (1) right?

Ben Simmons is a perfect example of why we need a system of: A) Straight to NBA out of High School B) 2 year NCAA commitment.

Agreed. As A COLLEGE basketball fan, I would like to see a player stay two years before he can go pro... Better for the college game and can help STUDENT go to more classes and look ahead to the future after basketball...

This is a garbage year in college for him.

Yup he is only here to play bball...He may end up being the #1 pick but I am not sure about it... Just look at Okafor.. He is/was much nore polished last year at Duke than Simmons is this year.. If Okafor was on say Minn, he would be lighting it up every night.. Towns is good but IMO Okafor is better...... I would take the Heild kid from OU before I would take Simmons. Valentine from MSU as well.........

show me where this has helped LSU win games consistently.

You all said Simmons will take over games all year, and that is simply not the case.
Every. Single. Game. This. Year.

Sorry if you can't see it.

For what it's worth, Lebron had an awful shot when he first entered the league.

He's a bust. It happens. Few remember but when Shaq showed up to LSU, he was the second bill. Stanley Roberts was the one with golden future.

I don't know if I'd say "bust" at this point, but I don't see him being the top scorer on a good NBA team, ever. I see him as a nice complementary player, a guy you put on the floor with "the man" to make the team better. I don't think you build your team around Simmons.

Yeah, we were all excited about Stanley. Shaq was a raw physical talent and a nice surprise.
