This really isn't a good thing if you are trying to plug Miles, you know, the winning with the unmentionable's players and all.

None of that matters. Urban Meyer won with Ron Zooks players. Fat arse Charlie Wiess won with Ty Willingham's players.

At Arkansas Broyles won a NC and was followed by Holtz. But neither title came in the SEC

At Bama, Wade was followed by Thomas and they both won NCs

NCs that count.

Wade wasn't an SEC-era coach though. If the original poster is only looking for national championships from major organizations, I'm guessing that there aren't any coaches that meet his criteria. However, if he is including all national titles, even minor ones, Dietzel had a major one in 1958 and a minor one in '59 and McClendon had a minor one in '62.

Tubberville replaced Bowd...er nevermind self imposed titles dont count.

Brother Oliver actually coached the last 5 games of the 1998 season after Bowden was forced out (and before Tuberville was hired).

Is coach Miles the only SEC coach to replace a coach who has won a NC and then win one himself?

Only on the third Saturday of the month following a win on the road against a team that beat its previous opponent by 7 or less points. And when deferring the opening kickoff.
