How many statues is basketball putting up? I don't even agree with the shaq statue but he isn't gonna die for a long long time so I guess it's a little different that a older coach. Maravich had a stadium which is enough but Skip shouldn't get a statue until he's gone and les shouldn't get one until he's fired and has another natty. I mean 1 natty? No statue. Coker

Maybe its just me, but i feel like we should be somewhat consistently playing in the conference title game if yall want to erect a statue of les

I don't disagree with the no statue opinion but you deserve a punch to the mouth for mentioning Coker.

Well, it was one of the most important games in decades.
We can all tolerate the loss, but the way that game was played was a disgrace in every way.
And that's what we can't get over.

They can't support their hatred of Miles with comprehensive statistics, so they have to talk about men doing sexual things with each other and hope it makes an impact in the argument.
Sit down.

I just love this line of thinking -- "if I didn't play in the game, I can't be emotionally affected by it."
If that's the case, why do millions of fans fill football stadiums on Saturdays and Sundays in the fall? Why do they fly flags, wear gear, etc. Because we love the game and love our teams and we're EMOTIONALLY INVESTED in the outcome of games.
Isn't that why we're all on the Rant? To say we can't be affected by a game would gut the entire football (all sports, really) industry.
I mean, isn't that why you're on the Rant?

quote:"I'm emotionally invested" is unhealthy and stupid. "It's fun" is less unhealthy and less stupid.

Your problem, not Les' or anybody else's. Get over it. It was just a game from five years ago.

good grief, you don't get it. We're all emotionally invested in the Tigers. To different degrees, perhaps, but we're all emotionally involved.
I grew up in BR and graduated from LSU in the 80s. Listened to John Ferguson on the radio. Saw many games in Tiger Stadium. Watching now brings me back to my childhood. So yea, I'm absolutely emotionally invested in the Tigers.
When I watch our band march out on the field before the game with the drum cadence and getting ready for Hold That Tiger, I get goosebumps. Because it means something to me. Again, emotionally involved.
And talking about letting a game go -- no. I'm still not over the '79 USC game. I still get pumped about 28-8 over Notre Dame in '71. Or the 17-16 win over Ole Miss in '72. Or the Orange Bowl/fog game against FSU in '82. The list goes on and on....
So yes, I'm emotionally involved and proud of it. Now that doesn't mean I curl up in the fetal position when we lose, but yes, my insides churn during Tiger games. It means I care.
If not, then it's just kids running around a grass field in colorful outfits throwing a ball.
