Interesting post. My buddy was over watching the game with me and commented on how we looked like a different team second half. We both said coaching, I will have to watch again and look for what you said.

Miles has had many awful coaching performances over the year. He has blown more than enough to warrant firing over the years. Last night, had we blown it, wasn't one of them. Great game plan and play calling the whole game.

The Rant will say that he's the coach, and poor player plays fall back on him, he should have coached them better to not make those mistakes....but when Fournette is running for 150 yards, it's all Fournette...no coaching. When the offensive line is playing great Les gets no credit (they were most of the night...go watch the long touchdown run by LF7, Clapp pulls left and blocks 2 guys who were in position to make the tackle completely out of the play...later when Clapp holds on the first down pass to Dural, it's all Les' fault). When the D-Line is getting 6 sacks last night, it's all because we have beasts on the field, but when they are getting gashed for the 3rd quarter by the power run game, it's because the coaching didn't have them ready for the second half.

Our fans are comical at best.

He's just regurgitating things he's heard on the rant from past even though it has no pertinence to this game. Did you watch the game lsuvcurams or were you catching up on housewives of nyc?

First drive of second half: either a screen pass or short run, don't remember which. Pass to tight end that's overthrown. Touches his hand but can't bring it down. Pass on cross route over the middle, bad throw incomplete, punt. Can't blame Les here.

Second drive: Screen for -1. Fournette for 12. Offsides on State, Fournette fumble at midfield. Can't blame Les here.

Third drive: From our own 7 yard line...Run for 4, Run for 1, Pass complete for 20 yards called back by holding. Etling rush for 8 escaping pressure, 3 yards short. Punt. Can't blame Les when the play calling worked, called back for penalty (who was a center forced to play left tackle by 3 line injuries)

Fourth drive: From our 1 yard line...Fournette for 1, incomplete pass, Fournette for 11, first down. Fournette for 14, first down. Pass to Dural for 8. Guice for 3, first down. Pass to Chark for 11, first down. Fournette for 10, first down. Etling rush for 3. Chop block penalty for 15 yards...now 2nd and 22. Pass to Dupre for 17. Guice for 4. Fournette fumble on 4th and 1 from State's 35. Can't blame Les here either. Every call was good. The penalty hurt, and even it was overcome until the fumble.

Fifth Drive: Fournette for 2, End around for -4, Incomplete pass that was thrown away avoiding big time pressure. Punt. Questionable call on the end around, but after not showing anything special the entire half, if that play goes for 40, the Rant goes crazy. Les/Cam took a shot and State played it well.

Show me where he took his foot off the gas. What would you have done differently, coach?

Maybe this post should be stickied so the brain dead masses could actually think before just spouting off. Criticize the coaches when it's deserved and it has been for way too long, but at least have enough rationale thought to see how different this game truly was rather than just latching on to a comfortable narrative.

OP is right, he's not the crazy one you all are. If you don't think that lackadaisical showing in the second half is not on the coaches, I'm sorry but I have to say you're wrong. If Saban was the coach these types of things would not happen point blank period. Who do you guys think players feed off of? Have you never played a lick of team sports? The attitude, effort of a team is a direct reflection of the coaches philospphy. You guys are trying to take up for the team but I'm not sure why, I love LSU to tears but I will admit when there is a problem and there is an obvious one with finishing games. Every year it's the same, and you guys still blame it on the players.. The team drops intensity by half at half

Les needs to coach that unseasoned RB on how to hold onto the ball in tight quarters when ball control and clock are your best friend. LF was out to prove to the World that he's back, got stripped fighting for extra yds in traffic and he lost focus on the situation in front of him - just keep the chains moving. Tigers win by 17+ if fumbles don't occur - drive killers, clock stoppers, points erasers. That's what fumbles do for you!

You mean that coach that was up 18 late in the fourth and his team let Ole Miss get within 5?

What lesson would that be. Riding on a chopper with your bimbo girlfriend giving you a reach-around and Wrecking because of it?

No I mean the coach whose team stormed back from 24-3 to score 24 unanswered and scored 17 and 14 in the second half respectively. Surely you understand the difference between running out of gas and just coming out flat because you think the game is won? I hate the shite out of Alabama but I think my post went over your head

I know right? That must explain why LSU scored more points in the 2nd half last year than they did in the first half. It probably also explains the fact that they outscored opponents more in the second half than they did in the first half. Good observation backed up with factual data.

but yes overall i was happy to see more passing especially in 2nd half. we barely beat a scrub at home at night. let's see where that gets us after auburn and florida on the road. hopefully we are undefeated in sec play before bama.

Wasnt state the closest score outside of bama in 2011? People didn't think much of that team after. It's totally diff season, this team never will be good as 2011. But it is better than people are making them out to be.

So when another team does it, it is running out of gas. When LSU does it, it is because of the coaching staff letting the team fall flat? How convenient.

People are upset because the offense is still stale, it's better but stale.
LSU is scared to death to use the middle of the field consistently. No crossing routes, slants, nothing. We are so easy to defend at times it's ridiculous. I've never seen an offense so obsessed with the sidelines....but I thought it looked a tad better last night, which is promising. But the fact that it's a bad Miss St team has people irate, so i get it.

You may not be old enough to remember the NC chsmpionship game vs OU in 2004 - Sabam truly took his foot off the gas in that game and turned a blowout win into a nail-biter that required an overthrow in the end some by OU to prevent overtime.

I'm at fault too. Problem is a lot of people drink and don't pay attention to every play. They come on here and spew bullshite as fact.

I always rewatch the games, usually before bed on Sundays. Even the losses. It helps watching it with a clear head.

Mauk was pretty bad that game. LSU just dug in and won on defense. Also another game that Jimbo struggled to create anything when not with Les Miles.
