I think Les is probably an intelligent, articulate guy with a certain slyness about him.
A whole lot of interviews seem focused on catching the coach off guard, make him slip up and say things he shouldn't; or press the coach on bits of strategy that if revealed would do harm to the team.
Some coaches get evasive or even rude; Les tends to frick with the interviewer. His goofy speech is still technically grammatically correct, it's just so ... different, that it's damn near impossible for someone to press him a lot. You spend so much time figuring out what he just said, you can't follow up most of the time.
And watch his expression. Unless it's following a big loss, most of the time he has a sly glint to his eyes, like he's enjoying what he's doing. Compare that to Saban, who looks like he's waiting to get his prostate checked during interviews.

Bingo.

How does Les communicate with players?
With coaches during the game?
Do we assume that in this context he magically becomes a master communicator?
Is anyone really surprised that we have confusion on the sidelines at the end of games or crucial drives?
I would feel more confident if Les used semaphore signals at the end of each half..
Many posters on this board continue to suggest that Miles is a terrible communicator and it usually stems from an interview with the media.
If you really want to know and formulate an educated opinion about how he communicates to the team, join the Grid Iron Club and attend a few practices.
It's pretty enlightening and it's one reason Miles does have those that will defend him to the less informed masses.

Les Miles is like the old coaches from my youth. They don't like talking to reporters and spend most of their time saying nothing in various ways. I just think that Les is quite as slick with the BS he is spewing as some other coaches. I don't think this has anything to do with how he communicates with his team or coaches. A couple people have told me that he speaks differently when talking in small groups or away from football. i.e. this is a front he puts on to keep from actually saying anything.

quote:He answered the questions asked. It was somewhat garbage in, garbage out. The questioned sucked for the most part. I give him credit for not asking what the hell the questions were trying to get him to say. Arute is horrible. The show was much better when all he did was keep the Pirate talking. Now, he thinks he's actually part of the show.
Did anyone else get anything from it? Is it me?
