Why? Because I'm suggesting that Orgeron wouldn't pay someone to come in and learn on LSU's dime without offering anything?

I like your edit too by the way.

We know that is your opinion. What we don't know is why you feel the need to insult other posters when they share an opinion that is different from yours.

Linehan has more than 20 years as an OC in the NFL. you seriously think he's bringing nothing to the table with that experience alone.

And why would Linehan take a demotion from NFL OC to college PGC unless there was something huge in it for him - like learning the hottest offense on the planet?

Again, it is a win-win

This has been my point in the whole thread that you've been arguing against.

So why does he take the demotion to college PGC?

Brady was a benevolent drill sergeant. From what I've heard, Linehan has the same rep

What specifically have you heard? Who did you hear it from? Who are you?

We either trust Orgeron or we don't.
I think he has earned the trust.

He didn't take a demotion. He didn't have a job did he?

I happen to think it's a good hire.

He was out one year. And NFL OC to college PGC is a demotion.

A Spread/RPO OC is a hot item in the NFL these days. Look at Joe Brady for instance. A retro PG OC is NOT a hot item. And you don't learn that offense easily - takes time

Your guess is as good as mine. That doesn't take away from the original point. Your original OP made it sound like Linehan was just some lackey coming here to sit in the corner and learn how to coach. After I posted that he was bring a wealth of knowledge to the program you edited your post. Other than that we are mostly in agreement.

It is common knowledge that Linehan has a wealth of NFL and college knowledge. What he doesn't have, is a knowledge of the Saints/LSU red-hot offense. And neither does most of the NFL OCs.

And Coco didn't raise no fools. No way in hell does O allow any major changes to the 2020 playbook

I'd rather LSU not be the place where you go to retread a career for a dinosaur on his way out soon anyway. We need to start hiring younger coaches on the staff they are archaic at this point and I guarantee it won't help recruiting.

Let's just assume that is 100% true. He's still not being paid $800K to just come here to learn this offense and not give any of his input or tweaks as your OP suggested at first. That was my one and only point that you've been arguing against for some reason even though you edited your OP to say just that.

Does anyone know if at Detroit they were running the Saints scheme while he was there? Detroit ran the Saints offense for quite awhile I just can't remember the year it started.

Not sure what style they ran but they were top 5 in passing offense each of his last 3 years there

I've been saying the same thing the whole thread, that Linehan is a knowledgeable coach that is coming here to do more than just learn.

Yeah I'm not sure why some people are so upset. I kind of like the idea of these two guys collaborating with so much talent to work with. I think we're gonna be good.
