Brady also had 4 last place finishes in 10 years. He was en route to #5 when he was fired.
Brady brought LSU to the Final Four in 2006…then finished dead last in the SEC west the following season. THAT was the history of LSU basketball in the nearly 30 years after Brown retired. A good season or two followed immediately by a last place season. LSU missed the NCAAT 18 out of the 24 years between Brown’s retirement and Wade’s hiring.
That is why Wade’s firing is a sad day. He had the most consistent success of any LSU men’s basketball coach in 30 years and no basketball fan is excited about the prospect of returning to DECADES of extreme peaks and valleys.
Could LSU hire a great coach to replace him? I hope so. But unlike football and baseball, history suggests that is unlikely. Perhaps more unlikely when you consider what big name HC is going to want to leave a great job to come to one that will be a complete rebuild? Particularly at a place that has shown an unwillingness to invest in the program?

That excuse was valid for two seasons.
Brady won the SEC in his 3rd season…then proceeded to go 8-24 in SEC play the following two years. After two straight 1st place finishes in the West and a Final Four appearance between 2005-2006, he followed that up by finishing last in 2007 and was in last place when he was fired in 2008. That was LSU basketball for 30 years…well beyond the Brown sanctions. Two NCAAT appearances was an extreme outlier…not the norm. But for 2020 being canceled LSU would be reaching their fourth straight tournament today.
Wade took over a program that had just posted its worst SEC record ever. That first team was picked to finish last in the SEC. It didn’t. So I’m confident Wade could have done MUCH better than Brady did in those first two seasons. You know who would agree with that statement? John Brady

Or we can wait and see what happens. Odds would seem favorable that we will have to take a chance on an assistant coach from somewhere but you don’t know what the future holds anymore than I do.
What I do know is Wade was arrogant as frick and sloppy beyond belief. I wish neither of those were true but apparently they are both factual based on the info available to us now. LSU had no choice.

Had Wade not been such a blatant cheater, and having his status as the HC always in question because of the cheating, I think the program would have most likely seen upgrades. Now Woody can lure a good HC with the promises of upgrades, that's if the sanctions aren't too horrible.

SW probably has had a top 5 list of head basketball coaches for over a year now.

Some of you pussy hand wringers think LSU is about to get the death penalty or something. LSU will get a very good basketball coach.

Everything you said was literally dead wrong in your first post. Wade his first 5 years at LSU, SHITS on what Brady did.
Not when you add in the damage wade did.
Are y'all just oblivious to what wade actually did?
