I agree with the commentators. Slaughter absolutely had time to look down at the bag and touch the side of it.. but I don't play the position.
Slaughter has been a below average defender in his career here. Not sure why someone laughed at that. Remember last season?

How is nobody talking about how Hilliard should have been taken out at the start of the inning? 1. Because they’re making solid contact every at bat and 2. He’s a fricking freshman at 90 pitches on 5 days rest. The frick are you doing maineri

1- he is on 4 days rest
2- he should have been out of the inning without a run given up
3- its easy to say he should have been pulled AFTER you know the outcome
4- shut up

I know Coomes had 2 errors at 1st in the second game. Was he replacing Slaughter? I can’t remember too well.

and he would've been out of the inning with no problem is Slaughter uses proper mechanics
