I'm encouraged after this.
Clean up the turnovers and hope we never ever get that officiating crew again.
I saw alot of good and minus the ending Mays played his arse off.

Think part of the lack of assists was an adjustment by wade. They were really good at rotating and covering into passing lanes. Our best offense and least chance to turn it over was Mays and smart one on one a lot of the time

People are dogging on mays and the very last position he choked. It happens. But they bailed vcu out on the missed 3 and then swallowed the whistle when mays got hacked three times.
I try not to blame it on the refs but it was definitely more one side in the first 10 and the last 10 minutes. Most wrote us off as a 10 win team at halftime.
We will be fine and will learn from this. This offense can score. Just need to clean up the turnovers going forward.
A loss at vcu is more understanding than a loss at home to Evansville.

This is a way better early season test than, say Lamar.

I told you the one on onedribble drive and 3’s off the dribble is what they practice. That’s the offense that Wade thinks is best suited for this squad. He thinks our 4 guard lineup w Taylor is our biggest strength. Get used to it it’s the game plan every night out.

Having said that, tonight this team showed a lot of what last year’s team had. They fought and clawed and almost pulled out a game that looked lost with 6:00 left. I was encouraged by the way they battled. This team is just missing what Tremont gave us in the last minute of ball games. We have a lot of time left to find out who that guy will be for us this year.

It’s not showing individually either. If you knew what you were looking at, you’d see it.
Smart & Mays are your best players and they just don’t play off one another well.
When Taylor comes back they’ll run a 7 man rotation and none are a true big man. It’s worrisome

Auburn made a final 4 run without a true big man. There are ways around it.
Fans that compare this team to last will be disappointed. We don’t have Reid or KBW.
We can still be successful.

Had they played the whole 40 minutes like they played the last 10 they would have won easily. The younger players appeared flustered by the pace of the game in the first half. It will get better. Lots of talent on this team.
