in the 70s the running backs (i remember Charles Alexander) used to wear tear aways. the purple jerseys were a little lighter color purple and did not have shoulder stripes. they looked good. i think purples w/ stripes are too "busy"

this. i think the addition of these would add some freshness and also stay kind of traditional.

I agree I liked the Nike Combat. Really liked the helmets.
+1 I wish we had 2 or 3 uni combos with that helmet.

Either there should be "permanent" alternate uniforms, or no alternate uniforms at all. This bullshite with one wacky uniform for one game per season is just ludicrous and it dilutes the LSU brand. I don't mind a new, "alternate" uniform if we are going to use it sometimes (not one time) and if it becomes permanent.

It is better than daily JJ vs Lee/ Saban vs Miles threads...

This would be, be far, our best looking uniform. That is just beautiful.
ETA: I love our current uniforms too

The all white unis are bad arse. I do not remember wearing the all white, what year was this? Had to have been '08 with Peterson there. It wasnt last year at Bama was it?
I also like the ones we wore for the Katrina benefit, but with our normal stripes, no Pelicans!

The Nike Pro Combat line is supposed to have better padding and reduced weight.
An equipment manager came and spoke to one of my classes this summer, and I believe he said the team will be using the Pro Combat uniforms, but with the traditional color scheme. He was also asked if there would be any special or different uniforms at any time this season, but he gave the basic "No comment" reply.

the pro combat uniforms from last year were auctioned off after the season ....... well some of them were so I doubt you'll see those again but those all whites would look sweet

Not the same uniforms, they'll be wearing Pro Combat uniforms that are in the usual color scheme. They'll look like the regular uniforms, but they'll have the Pro Combat construction.

So between 97 and 07, lsu didn't wear any other alt jerseys, then wear 2 in 3 years?
I like the idea of a set alt jersey, like a lot of baseball and hockey teams have. When the dallas stars cane out with that star-pattern sweater and ended up winning the cup while wearing them, I didn't think there could be a cooler looking sweater.
The flip side is Oregon, who goes overboard with it.
