and yes we have cooperated with ncaa but this has nothing to do with the ncaa. this is a team matter and will be handled by the guy paid to handle it. And hes done a damn fine job since 05.
Exactly. This is what I was trying to convey to the OP but he thinks Miles should apologize for.......... ???????

Once again, he clams up when you disagree.
I'd really like to hear your opinion on this. What should Miles apologize for? What exactly?

That is because we are all being meanies
In his mind he is a combination of -the Mentor+too mature for the rant+coolest baddest mofo
In reality more like a chicken little + holier than thou+ annoying chirping nuisance.

he also totally ignored the fact his initial claim that miles has never apologized for the actions of the team when quotes were posted of him doing that verbatim.
i would also like to know instances over the last "several years" he talked about in another post. there really hasn't been a single thing of substance happen until this year after Perrilloux and Odom were booted that I can think of off the top of my head. And we play teams like UNC that have 12 players suspended and this is apparently an LSU problem, el oh el

It's the manner in which Miles goes about these disciplinary issues, whether its NCAA, or "internal" matters. He doesn't seem to ever admit that there was a screw up, and stand before the rules/laws etc. and say that he needs to take responsibility. He ends up dodging this bs by saying "I can't confirm this or that". Why the hell not? You screwed up, ADMIT IT, and move on damnit. I never heard him once ever stand up as a leader and take responsibility for the issues going on. He has yet to own up to the disciplinary issues at LSU over the last several years.
Here comes the Miles hate. Why does he owe full disclosure, about minor issues, to fans or the media?

I noticed this. Too bad he can't even explain it. He just puts it out there and leaves it.

Never have understood why Miles has to apologize for the actions of his players. Unless you can show some pattern of corruption that was overlooked repeatedly. I doubt this is the case. The players are 18 or older they can stand up for their own actions.

Joe Alleva says...
"We will not tolerate student-athletes whose irresponsible actions tarnish the good name of a great university. LSU student-athletes are expected to behave with the understanding that they represent their school, their fellow students and the long history of this program, regardless of the time of day. Coach Miles has already begun taking disciplinary action. It is critical that we are deliberate in determining the facts surrounding this incident and as Coach Miles said, when the facts are clear, additional and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken if necessary."
Certainly this was after the breaking news in the JJ incident, but does some of this statement apply to this situation? Before you get started, I'm NOT comparing the two incidences, just asking if the Athletic Director feels the same about ANY actions that may be detrimental to the program.
What say you?
PS...I'm 50 yrs. old, smoke my weight when I was in high school (it slowed the game down for me, hehehe), and am not throwing stones. Just something to consider.

Silence is golden when a Judge, parent or coach is dealing with a private investigation of young men and women. Would you want your responsible officials acting another way?

quote:What if this latest incident is just another peek at the tip of an iceberg lurking just out of view? Scary thought.
It really bothers me how some people want to hide this thing and sweep it under the rug as much as possible and just brush it off. In an era where the NCAA is just bringing the hammer down everywhere the last we should be doing is hiding information and dealing with this "internally".

quote:And that's the truth, so what more could he be expected to say or do? Should Les become their personal Nanny or Jiminy Cricket, sitting over their shoulders and watching over these wayward lads 24/7? That's asking a lot - sadly there are plenty of clueless parents who expect the school or the teachers to undo years of lax, indulgent upbringing and mold their brats into upstanding young men or women. But these same parents will fight their kids' schools and teachers like tigers if ever the school administration or teachers do make an effort to bring down some discipline. I think this incident and the defenders of bad behavior here are another variation on that same theme.
Les never points the finger at himself, merely says "well these guys screwed up, we've disciplined them, and I will try to change things so it won't happen again."

The problem that I have with the fan base and the players is that smoking pot is still illegal and that doesn't seem to bother anyone. I'm not sure where you get that they had some synthetic, but I'm pretty sure they don't get suspended for something you can buy legally at the store.

I am not sure where you get that they had some synthetic or even natural pot!!
Was there some announcement from LSU that I had missed or did Miles come out and say so in his presser.
There was some slips/leaks to the media, which were never confirmed and then no one even knows if it was the same cause for all three or if it it were different occasions for the three but everyone is in an uproar.
The problem I have with the fan base is that they are fricking RANTARDS!

Someone should report all the media outlets spreading UNCONFIRMED rumors about the players. Until an official source confirms any allegation, all we have is rumors.
I'm actually pretty pissed off that these media types can get away with spreading rumors and continue to slander players in an unfair and biased manner.
If the sources are so trusted and true, REPORT YOUR SOURCES.

Miles, accompanied by the team's unity council, met with several media members at the team's practice facility to discuss the incident and its fallout.
"The last two days have been miserable for us," said Miles, who was visually perturbed. "We've been involved in behavior unacceptable to me, certainly unacceptable to our team. Guys broke team rules and violated curfew.
"I can tell you and assure this will not happen again. This is a remorseful team here. I personally want to apologize for the actions of my team. We are very fortunate to represent a wonderful school and community. We should do so respectfully. We should understand our actions have consequences."
