I was given shite when I said Nola>Bregman after Alex's freshman year. I still believe it up to this point. But I think Alex is going to hit close to 400 and prove me wrong... Or at least I hope

wasn't there a guy in a thread years ago bashing PM for putting Nola in at SS?

Unfortunately I was a little too young to witness the greatest days of the bertman era, when I was a kid, my heroes were Aaron hill Ryan theriot, brad cresse, people in the late era. So I wasn't able to witness todd walker and all of the glory surrounding those teams live, but I've heard so many stories and read so many things and watched replays of the games. It really makes me sad I'm so young.

Some people will bash on any decision CPM makes.
All I know is I wish the Nola's had more younger brothers.

You missed some good times. Those old 6 team regionals were the best.

They were insane. In a good way.

in the mid to late 90's.. pre first bat change... it seemed like there was no deficit those teams couldn't overcome.

Still remember the 98 regional. Fulelrton jumped out to a 7-0 lead after a few innings. I think we had tied it like 2 innings later.

Yep being out of school and just watching baseball for 4 straight days. Couldn't beat it. It's fun to look back at all the future MLB guys that you saw come through here when they were younger.

So true.
Epic regional battles with Texas A&M, Southern Cal, Cal St Fullerton...
Having to beat teams twice in a day like A&M, USC (well a tornado made it two days), South Alabama...
Not good times, but great times.

The Long Beach game in 97 is still one of my all time favorites. I wish they had video of that somewhere.

2008/2009 had that same feel to it.

i think 98 was also the game against usc where they hit a grandslam and lsu came back with 3-4 consecutive hr's to tie the game? my memory is a bit fuzzy.

Yep. Opening round of the CWS. LSU hit 8 homers in that game. Funny that the winning runs came on a bloop single by McClure.

found it..
LINK
SC's five-run lead lasted just six batters into the LSU seventh. Cedrick Harris and Danny Higgins opened the inning with back-to-back homers. After Josh Dalton grounded out, McClure made it 10-8 with a home run into the right-field bleachers. Eddy Furniss walked, and Brad Cresse unloaded his second two-run homer of the game, a monster shot that cleared the bleachers in left field, to produce a 10-10 tie.

I never get tired of hearing the stories of the days of the 6 team regionals. My dad tells me about them a lot. It just seems like it was so pure and great

I liked the butt whuppin we put on Georgia Tech with that 18 run inning. Seemed as though we were going to bat for hours.

1998 Cal St Fullerton in the winners bracket final. LSU fell behind 8-0 in the 2nd inning and Skip brings in his probably loser bracket game starter, Brandon Bowe. Said he had a feeling that LSU could overcome that deficit. At one point LSU hit back to back to back home runs to close the gap and did eventually overtake the Titans. LSU also slugged about 6 home runs in the championship round against Cal St Fullerton and advanced to Omaha.

my 100 day wait is over... leaving now to head to homerun village.
