In my opinion, not a good use of the money. I doubt we recruit 10 students from the Gainesville area. It is not that large of a town anyway.

I have a few friends in academic recruiting at LSU, and they all say the response to the new campaign is very positive in their recruiting states (essentially TX and all of the SEC states)...
and might I say, its infinitely better than that crap EVO DEVO they wasted money on a few years ago
Believe it or not, LSU actually pulls a lot of students from Florida...that's mostly because the standards to get into UF are ridiculously high.

LSU probably HAS to start recruiting out of state because so few Louisiana kids have the grades to get in since the elevated entrance requirements. (Even though they're still lower than Florida's)

Then maybe LSU needs to raise theirs again. They want to be this big bad academic powerhouse, make the entrance requirements as tough as UF's. If you're a HS student in La. and want to attend LSU, either study your arse off or you aren't getting in. The tough ER's at Florida don't seem to be hurting their student population numbers.......
