HATE the "Scotty Moran" sign. Even if you are the type of guy with the money to do this, do you really have that much of an ego to put your name up there and absolutely bastardize the side of the stadium your helping renovate? It just looks awful.

He is a donor. He has a shitload of acreage just south of Shreveport. When the natural gas boom took off up here, he was making $125,000 a day in royalties off the wells on his land.
It's obviously much lower now due to lower gas prices, but he is easily one of the top LSU donors.

I understand the "sell out" protesters but hell, if the man chooses to give us huge contributions rather than some other school, let him call the shots.
At least we now know who he is (I had no idea) and I think it's great we have a fan with deep pockets. I'd be willing to be he isn't a cheesy dude in corporate seats leaving in the third quarter. This man must bleed Tiger Purple. I could be wrong but I seriously doubt his loyalty.

fricking bullshite. I did a project in my Facilities management class about how to improve Tiger Stadium. Our main design was to build a walkway with plaques almost exactly like this one.
We got a C and our teacher is the one who "designed" this layout...

This is absolutely correct. What you don't know is that he also funded a lot of the improvements on the North side (window replacements and replacing the fencing). I don't claim to know the guy very well, but I don't believe ego is a factor here.
It's not like he's the first guy to have his name on something on campus.

I doubt that Scott Moran stipulated a size or had specific specs in his donation, demanding the excessive and egregious billboard that acknowledging his benefaction.

If I remember correctly, TAF went around to most donors and offered naming rights to several items associated with the "Preservation of Tiger Stadium Project". Moran just ponied up the money. It was several million... I'm not forking out that much, but I appreciate those who do. I agree, it could have been a little more tasteful in the design.
If I remeber correctly, I think he's an attorney in Desoto Parish. The sound barrier off I-49 was put up as terms in the lease.

Drives me crazy.....how ugly the west upper deck is. All that shitty architecture, and no one could figure out how to cover the PVC pipes.
I'm greatful for the contributors that made the plaza happen. Hope it's done in time.

Is there anywhere that Scotty Moran sign can go besides where it says Tiger Stadium in the rendering? Like an interior arch behind there? Or that where it is definitely going?
I know this is a "plaza" but it sure looks like the center of the gates of Tiger Stadium. Wanted it to say Tiger Stadium. Other than that all the improvements look great. I'd like to see some before and after pics by Mike's cage. I can't tell if there's new concrete areas or they were just redone and improved. North side of the stadium and the lighting is looking good too.
