Im surprised Kansas didnt get into the top 25.
KU has only played 4 real games (LSU, Ark) and is 2-2. If they can do better in the Big-12, they should move into the poll.
They were picked 2nd in the league pre-season behind Texas. If they finish that way (ahead of OU) they'll be Top-15 for sure, and this weekend won't seem as bad.

#19 in rivals
That's a little surprising, based on what they've accomplished so far.

My problem is that Virginia has lost to Wright State at home and lost to ECU and I think this Kansas team is better than ECU. I'll give UVA their loss to Florida State, especially after winning two. LSU shouldn't have fallen that far, if at all. When UVA lost to Wright State (at home) they didn't fall at all.

See above for the answer to your question.
Who?
Texas? They did drop a series to a strong New Mexico team, and then came back to sweep Stanford and also beat Rice and Missouri.
UVa? Not sure if they should be the #1 with the way ASU is playing, but the loss to Wright state is the only bad one. ECU is a top 20 team, and taking 2 of 3 in Talahassee is HUGE.

I understand its hard to compare two teams when they don't play each other (or common opponents) but ECU has performed very well, this weekend not withstanding. Beat UVA, took a series from South Carolina and took care of business at a tournament that they should have (and did) win big.

Thats not a bad idea, considering they just took a series from the 5th ranked team in the nation, on the road!

Thanks for 'giving' us the FSU loss even though it was at Dick Howser and we locked up the series by Game 2
Look man, the #11 ECU (at that time) game was our first series opener like two weekends ago and it was at ECU. If anything, the jury is still out on who is better...ECU or Kansas, but I think the consensus is that ECU is supposed to be better than Kansas based on shear talent.
We lost to Wright St 2-1 at home during an invitational tourney (it was a 4 game weekend), and we ended up beating them that same weekend. Yeah, it was a bad loss, but also remember that Wright St was a regional team last year @ TCU.
ETA: And I don't think any rational fan would say it's CLEAR who the #1 team is just as much it's not necessarily clear who the #25 team is. The rankings/polls give the fans and sportswriters something to talk about. If anything, I'd consider the polls in terms of 'categories'. The top 5 in one group, the next 10 in another group, and then the last 10 in another group.

but this is truly a joke of a poll.
So the poll was just fine last week when they had LSU at #1?

The poll has never been fine. UT drops 2 out of 3 to unranked New Mexico (who?) at home and falls 2 spots, yet LSU loses to a preseason #2 in the Big 12 and drops 5 spots (from #2 to #7), after winning all of their previous games. UVA loses 2 games (one to a very questionable opponent at home) and stays at #1. That makes no sense. The person running the BA poll event admitted in his chat this afternoon that he hasn't even seen LSU play this year Baseball America Chat.
Yes, this poll is a joke. Quite honestly, I don't care about the polls unless it somehow influences the seedings at tournament time, but I stand by my original statements - BA's Poll is a joke and should be disregarded.

Who ahead of them would you drop down? Maybe Florida, thats it though. The rest of the teams 2-6 have all played MUCH better competition and have the records to back it up. LSU dropped the best series it has on its schedule so far.
so why is Rice at #14. This poll doesn't drop people very far based on early competition. This is something they don't do very often. They lack consistency, which is why this poll is a joke

I actually think Baseball America does a better job than the other polls. I'd be willing to bet that they see more teams and have more knowledge about them then the people who votre in the other polls (which are mostly writers anc coaches).

Baseball America actually focuses less on college baseball than the other polls
they don't make drastic changes based on one weekend or even early play...until now.
Rice is out of the top 25 in basically every other poll because they are 10-7 and have some questionable losses. Why didn't Texas drop like we did this weekend?

There is no doubt that Baseball America is more of a scouting service and their preseason poll is based a lot off of who has the best draftable talent. But I also think that the people who actually vote in their poll have more of a knowldege about the teams they are voting on that the others.

This is a very fair assessment. I would argue that Collegiate Baseball is a far worse poll and that Rivals is right behind them. BA is really respected and generally speaking come mid season their polls are much better.

Frick the damn polls!!!!!!!!
The ONLY times I want to be #1 are when the regionals are announced, then Super Regionals, the Eauxmaha and then I want to see our team be able to claim that #1 ranking ON THE FIELD by holding that nice trophy up in the air at the last CWS at Rosenblatt.
Until all that happens, polls are meaningless.

+1000... everything depends on what LSU does on the field. They will be put in a situation where they can either prove they are among the elite, or they will drop the ball and at least they got the opportunity to prove it on the big stage. That's all you can ask for. The polls mean shite for LSU.
