I go to every basketball game and wish I could have gone to the last two, but I am in a different time zone. But I love how so many are upset that there weren't more students and I wonder what the attendance was

Im pretty sure LSU has held the attendance record for Baseball since the early 1990's EVERY year since.

I was checking out the student section seating - looked really uncomfortable...is it made for them to stand up the entire game? The ones that were there were the loudest people in the PMAC tonight. Good job guys.

Yeah, they replaced the old student section with a bleacher type this year. It is made for us to stand up, which is why they did away with seats. Anyways, the student attendance has been bad these first couple weeks due to exams and now the holidays, but we are trying to get people to show up.

God bless you because Lord knows the team sure isn't doing its part.
Ever since the NIT they have underperformed every single game.
And I know they're young this year. But man they better improve quick or we might be looking at a pretty bad SEC record.

I just don't get it.
I would DRIVE to Baton Rouge to go to damn near every game as a student, AFTER going to school and work.... and that was to watch Brian freakin' Beshara and Brad Bridgewater.
It's the BR area LSU students that should be ashamed.

The only official announcement that has been made is that students will be placed on the east end behind the goal next season.
I would additionally like to see them get rid of the "media" table in front of the student section now. However, the media table is really just an ad table.... the ads they have on it are a main source of revenue.
* Remove the "media" table - make them sit behind the other basket next season like the NBA makes their media.
* Place PAYING fans close to the court similar to big time programs or the NBA.
*Do not allow anyone to walk around the court. Block off the seats for floor access - the current setup is just amateur.
There should be about 2-3 rows of floor seats all the way around the court. These people as well as those in the lower sideline sections should be the only ones allowed to use the floor-level bathrooms and concessions.

That doesn't surprise me and I don't blame them. Students went back home for the Holidays and may have better things to do. They can't go to every fricking game.

The pit part of the student section was filled for the the home opener, and the two NIT games, and almost filled for the game against ULL. Of course people wait to complain about the student section when the semester is over and the most of the students aren't on campus.
The people who love basketball and support the team are there every game. If you look around at the games, its the same hundred or so students that show up game-in and game-out. And, I hate to say it, but until the team starts winning on a consistent basis then the "casual" fans won't show up.
Once the SEC schedule comes around, I'm sure more students will start showing up. That's how it was last year.

Oh? This is the mindset Alleva needs to crush.
That media table is sickening. If they want it for ad revenue, relocate it at the top of the arena walls above the 300-level seats like a halo board.
That space should be used for paying fans to sit courtside.... the so-called media can sit behind the basket.

They don't support their two programs. Rick Barnes for years has struggled with attendance for basketball games at UT's Frank Erwin Center. Florida aside from their two national championships has had terrible attendance.
I go to every game I can as a student. My only problem is that I cannot attend games while 7 hours away during the Christmas break. You'll find that much of the rowdy student basketball fans are the same 30 or so who go to every game. It's embarrassing that we cannot get more students to go to the games.
The only time the bandwagon students decide to come is either ESPN games or stupid football point nights. It's really sickening as a basketball first fan.
The poster who said that the onus for poor student attendance lies with local BR area students is correct.

FYI-
My son lives in the ERC and he was forced to leave for the break 2 days after finals last week. He is back home in Texas but would have been there if not. The set up for next year does look better. The student section has not been the same since they moved the seats away from the floor years ago.

As mentioned earlier, the student seats will be a continuous section behind the goal starting next year. They first have to finish replacing the seats in the PMAC.
