I don't think it was out of line - if he were married with a kid, it would be more likely that he has some family and monetary stability than with an out-of-wedlock child. And that's not meant to be judgmental, it's only about his chances of winding up on campus (the point of the OP). You would naturally think with more family and $ stability, he'd have a better chance of coming to LSU.

I was. It seemed as if he was judging the guy because he was a father and not married. Hell, there are plenty of guys that are married and not much of a dad to their kids. Also, how many guys on this board can say that they have never had sex out of married, uh none.
BTW - Sorry Josh for getting off of the topic. I hope that LeBlanc becomes a Tiger, but if he doesn't, I wish the best for him.

what do u think he'd rather do-
heavy a scholarship to LSU where to doesnt pay much, be around his kid for at least one more year
or go off to some obscure little town and play minor league ball, prob leaving his kid behind for now
after all, the kid is 2. He's been playing ball at least for 2 years while the kid was alive. Something was working out in the money department, i dont know what another year would hurt living like that

What round did he get taken in?

Lucas will definately be at LSU next year. He has alot of power and he is really versitile he could even be moved out of the outfield to somewhere like first and make room for Katz.

That "out of wedlock" comment was below the belt. No need for it

Of course I don't know how the guy feels, nor can I read his thoughts, but per the article, it sounds as if he wants to play ball at LSU. If he isn't offered much money by the Red Sox, I think he becomes a Tiger. I'm sure family are helping him financially and being a parent myself, if he were my son I would encourage him to follow his dream.

Well he is apparently marrying the baby's mother and I think I read an article a while back that he actually proposed on the field after a game. This doesn't exactly sound like some random one night knockup situation.

Long way to go between now and August. I hope he doesn't sign and plays at LSU next year, but you never know how these negotiations will work out.

Only one problem, the Red Sox have a lot of money. If they like him enough, hes gone.

Good for him, I guess. My only point was to defend whoever made the "out-of-wedlock" comment and then got roasted for it. I don't think it's at all irrelevant to whether or not this kid sees campus.

him having a kid is relevant, him and the mom being married when he had the kid is not

It's less revelant, but not irrelevant
