68,112 in the Superdome on January 20, 1990 vs Notre Dame. Stanley Roberts and Chris Jackson led the Tigers in a 87-64 rout; I believe Shaq didn't play. Notre Dame brought quite a few fans that day so the dome actually became a real neutral site.

LaPhonso Ellis and Monty Williams were on that Notre Dame team

I know you remember this, that when we had Chris and Shaq, we played Georgetown in the Superdome in New Orleans. Attendance was over 68,000 and was the largest crowd for college basketball at the time, maybe still is.
Actually the Georgetown game was when CJ was a freshman and before Shag and Stanley came. Blanton was a senior that year and tipped in a buzzer beater attendance was 54K.
Dale tried again the next year with Shaq, CJ and Stanley against Notre Dame and that was where they sold 68K tickets sold to break the record. But there was bad weather or some such so the actual attendance for the game was less than the Georgetown game, only about 44K.
I did not remember all this I had to look it up.
