Not having a TO made that play a horrible call.

I guess all you genius people understood that Penn St was dropping off and going into 4 coverage. So the mid screen hits for a first down stop the clock then spike the ball.
you are right, that was a great call.
after all he did make sure to throw the ball at least ten yards so at least we could get the clock stopped when he gets tackled.
oh wait.....

I thought at first it would go for a good gain. Figured PSU was in some sort of prevent or playing deep and Lafell would pick up at least 10. But it turned out to be a not good play.

I thought it was a good call.. PSU wasn't giving up the deep ball/sidelines.. might as well get into FG range with one shot.
It was a game on the line type gamble. Would you rather had JJ take a 5 step drop back and potentially get sacked again?

it was such a bad call that PSU could have never been expecting it! it was genius in reality imo.

I liked the call, and when i saw it being up, thought it would spring
It just didnt. shite happens.

You can't point to anyone play. You could use any play we failed on as the play that "costs us the game". It's always that "last failure" that people point to.

This whole damn season the team played oblivious to crucial moments and like they had all the time in the world when in reality it was under a few minutes...

TT's drops along with the INT drops were worse than the stupid screen.

This genius doesn't understand WHY NOT THROW THE HIGH PERCENTAGE OUT ROUTES TO THE SIDELINE with NO TIME OUTS! A JUNIOR HIGH/HIGH SCHOOL COACH WOULD DO THAT!

They're not high percentage routes on that kind of field. You're asking the WR to make a sharp cut on a shitty field. What we ran was a high percentage play that just got sniffed out a bit early.
It was the right call IMO.

Jefferon said that it was a good call and he was ready to spike the ball had the Penn State players had not kepy Lafell from getting up.
That doesn't matter if he was ready to spike it.
To just assume you can gain 10 yards on that play is just silly.
And if you don't get 10 yards, it's gonna take at least 15 seconds off the clock. The play started with :39 left, that is simply way too big of a risk with no timeouts left.
It was the worst call I've seen in the Crowton era. It easily tops the 2nd and 3 wildcat call by Crowton in OT of the Bama game last year.

don't go thru pre-snap reads for 14 seconds. The time was much more important than the down.
Inexperienced QB and yet another frick up by the coaches.
2 frick ups in the final :30 after the Ole Miss debacle, and our coaches are just the laughing stock of college football. Go read around message boards, Miles and Crowton are being roasted by football fans everywhere, not just LSU fans.

We ran the same play against Ole Miss to Brandon LaFell for 26 yards for a 1ST down and put us in field goal range. Nobody said that was a dumb play then? Maybe because it was successful?
Or maybe because we did it with 1:15 left instead of :39 AND maybe because we had a timeout to use against ole Miss.
Terrible comparison.

OLE MISS was sending a damn jailbreak blitz, PSu was sitting in nickel cover 2 zone. BIG DIFFERENCE MAN.

It was DEFINITELY not a high percentage play and quite obviously not the right call.
Seam routes and post routes across the middle are the correct call there since the D is taking away the outside, with a RB safety valve or Jefferson tucking and running to the sideline if he gets in trouble.
Definitely not a pass 2 yards downfield to the inside of the field where if you don't get 10 yards, you're basically fricked.
