I'm not saying it was a conspiracy, but the BCSNCG was hardly noticed. The highlight replays from the game on Sportscenter was about a minute long.
I don't think it is silly at all. News media favors one political party over the other and their coverage reflects it. It isn't too far fetched to think that a sports network could pull the same playbook when they favor one thing over the other.

b/c in the big markets..it wasn't as big as the clemens story. thats just how the media works
if tiger gets in a wreck on his way home from augusta, but notah begay breaks the course record....tiger gets all the talk the next day
the media will talk about what people wanttohear about, or at least what they think people want to hear about

The Clemons story was big because that is what they talked about. They wouldn't talk about anything else. I got to where I started tuning into something else whenever some ESPN goob brought up Roger Clemons.
And I didn't expect Super Bowl coverage but crap. They talked about the NCAA Basketball championship for days after it happened. USC vs. Texas and OSU vs. Miami were talked about a lot more. I understand those were closer games with more Natl appeal, but come on, the last time I heard anything about the BCSNCG was on Jim Rome's show at 5 the next evening. In fact, during the entire 5 minutes M&M talked about the game, they spent 4 minutes talking about how we need a playoff.
It was a concerted effort. Was there a meeting or an office wide fax sent out to all the ESPN radio and TV hosts? I don't think so. But I have no doubt that there was an effort made by the majority of those ESPN goobs to make the BCSNCG impotent.

i remember listening to him after lsu was moved to #1 in the polls, he bashed lsu pretty bad..... he said we didnt deserve it, usc did.... then next week usc lost to stanford and i laughed my @$$ off..... i agree he probably did it for ratings.... he is extrememly west coast bias though. i dont mind him, but at 11:00 i switch to jim rome....... i know the majority of ya'll hate him but i love his sarcastic humor.....

texas and tosu are the two largest schools in the country..... as many fans as we have...... we just dont compare.... the same reason they cover the cowboys so much(

consorted effort by a group = conspiracy

so espn radio made the clemens story big? not the us congress? not evening netowrk news? espn? got it!

yes they did. cowhered, gottlieb, kuselias and tirico talked about it PLENTY...maybe you weren't listening
quote:

there wasn't a federal investigation of a baseball hall of famer with possible purgery implications going on. it was one of the only BIG stories that week

i have sportscenter dvr'ed and on dvd from that night...would you like a copy to see exactly how much they talked about it?

saying USC deserved it isn't exactly bashing LSU
the ONLY thing i heard him actually bash LSU on last year was not playing anyone OOC worth a shite on the road...other than that, he praised LSU all year as one of the best teams in the country
Posted on 7/10/08 at 11:01 am to LSUfan4444
i remember bashing them this particular show saying "go on the road"..... saying we dont deserve it because we had no tough road games.... which in a way was true.... but come on, we still had a tough schedule at home....... i did hear him praise lsu at other times

well, he wasn't bashing LSU then
you even said what he was saying was true in a way
USC had a BRUTAL road schedule last year and LSU had a cake road schedule
he called LSU on it, and was correct

I'm not so old that my memory is fading and I remeber that the following day as well as the month leading up to the game, ESPN hardly talked about the game except in the context of needing a playoff.
I am not interested in going round and round on this subject. We can just agree to disagree.

Um, I don't know, maybe it's because those two were two of the greatest college football games ever.

okay...so since your definition of a conspiracy is f*cked...everyone else shuold changed theirs?
here, what about these?
quote:
An agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act.
A joining or acting together, as if by sinister design: .
quote:
a secret plan to carry out an illegal or harmful act
quote:
a planning and acting together secretly, esp. for an unlawful or harmful purpose
the plan agreed on; plot
the group taking part in such a plan
a combining or working together
so, you accuse ESPN of not talking about the BCSNCG because they want to minimize the press it gets for their own personal preferences , BUT that isn't a conspiracy
makes sense
quote:
cowhered, gottlieb, kuselias and tirico talked about it PLENTY

no they don't
gottlieb and kuselias come on after
quote:

you said the majority of ESPN, not just mike and mike
mike and mike don't discuss as much college football as other shows on a normal basis...grennie is from new york and doesn't have asmuch knowledge or interest in it as he does NFL, baseball, and NBA

Yeah, like when he said Les was going to Michigan.
He also said regardless of who won or how they played the QB for the winner of Mizzou and Kansas was getting his Heisman vote.
Early in the playoffs this year, he said Boston was a regular season team that wasn't built for the post season.
WAKE-UP, dude. He goes for the Springer shock effect. He's rarely logical and often wrong. However, he never goes back to previous stories to see if he got it right.
