Other quotes from this same article:

And that brings me to my point: I'd be even more thankful if there were mandatory drug testing for coaches.
. . .
Don't know how many extra hours Rich Rodriguez had those Michigan boys practicing, but clearly, it wasn't enough.

Good to see the Vols come back. You know it's been a tough week when you lose more guys for disciplinary reasons than ESPN.
. . .
This just in: the Yankees have voted Cole Hamels and Ryan Howard full World Series shares.

And while none of this does much for Miles' standing in Baton Rouge, word is, he's suddenly a front-runner for the Notre Dame job.
This was the exact quote from the article. Doesn't sound like a tongue-in-cheek sentence to me but I can't fathom ND being interested.

weis' problem is not football knowledge/coaching ... it is the fact that the guy just isn't that good of a recruiter ... he just isn't a head coach and can't assemble a decent staff .. miles can hire good coaches .. has a really good reputation among the assistant coaching fraternity and can recruit ... i think he'd be a good fit at ND with his midwestern roots ..

Miles leaving to go anywhere would be a step in the right direction for LSU, but no one wants Miles.

Its tongue in cheek. With all of ND's blunders, Miles tops the list for new coach, get it?
I think the phrase "word is" is intended to convey some seriousness to the sentence and so is not TIC. Urban Meyer has said ND is his dream job but he's not leaving Florida. No way no how.

Miles to ND
In my dreams.

Maybe he was the guy that called in to speak to Kevin Ford and asked about the drug testing.

Miles stays in BR, but I'd love to see Charlie Weiss in Baton Rouge as the offensive coordinator. He could do a lot of damage with this talent

Carlos, really. You need to take some classes and learn to recognize irony, sarcasm and wit when you read it. The guy was totally bullshitting.
