Miss St would easily handle McNeese & CMU as well.
Based on their performances vs Tech and Memphis, I don’t think they would easily handle CMU at all. They are very inconsistent and Leech made stupid decisions that kept both Tech and Memphis in those games.
Leach is certainly capable of out-coaching O, but he’s just as likely to out-coach himself.

Agreed. State is terrible, should cruise to a win by 3+ TDs

UCLA, McNeese, Central Michigan >>>>>> Florida, Alabama, Mississippi State, Georgia, etc

It’s a conference game, so they will come to play. I do expect LSU to win big.

If they don’t learn to cover crossing routes and cover the TE this week, it could be a repeat of last year.
Honestly, if Ward is back healthy and McGlothern is full-speed, we should just spend a ton of time in a Dime and maybe play Baskerville the most as the lone LB, since he tends to have fewer busts. Maybe Jones too since he is good in coverage.
Play plenty of zone and keep all of these cover guys on the field and I think the busts get minimized. Leech won’t run the ball enough to make us pay for it.

They didn’t down the ball

Official raised his left hand indicating that the clock should be stopped.
SEC has already acknowledged that the return should not have been allowed.
Also, there were two number 4's on the field during the return. Memphis should have been penalized and the play nullified by that alone.

Those freaking cow bells should be outlawed, most ridiculous advantage given to a nobody SEC team

Wait a minute. I thought State was good.

No one wants to hear it but this is the correct answer.

Actually, that’s not what they said. It was a live ball if you don’t notice or acknowledge the raising of the arm, and they said that the back judge doing that was actually wrong. It was the equivalent of an inadvertent whistle that stops a valid play. He should not have raised his arm. Something that has been brought up breaking down the play is that he does it, but then puts his arm down quickly as if he then knew he was making a mistake because the other official didn’t pick up the ball. Officials who are blowing a play dead don’t stop waiving their arm like that.
Basically, the SEC’s view is that the return shouldn’t have happened because the back judge’s frick up should have stopped the play incorrectly. The frick up didn’t stop the play, so it was still a valid live ball without it.
The real miss was the jersey numbers, but that should have been called before the kick. A State fan pointed out to me that the 5 yard penalty would have made it 4th and 1 in Memphis territory. They likely would have gone for it being down at that point.
If Leach kicks the FG instead of going and giving away their lead in the 3rd, NONE of this happens and they likely win going away.

The SEC admits the ref's left hand went up and that his call to stop the clock was reviewable and would have resulted in the play being disalloweed and the ball being placed at the spot of the signal.
Not sure why there wasn't an effort to review.

100% true but I would really hope LSU wouldn’t need those plays to beat a team like Memphis

State got well and truly screwed yesterday. Those calls were an abomination.
Complete and utter bad call on punt return that cost them the game.
Did you see where the SEC crew, including the replay guy working the Penn State game took away a down from Penn State on a drive, forcing them to punt on third down? How bad are SEC officials?
SEC officials cost Penn State a down

Here’s how this thing works: As the wins increase, the criticisms decrease.
Just keep winning.
Just keep winning.
