those are SEC rankings so 5 probably isn't that great but yeah I didn't realize how many picks we had last year.

Saying he's not worth what he's making makes you a fool, plain and simple.
ETA - I find it fascinating you have a problem with Aranda and Will Wade, arguably the best two coaches at LSU the past year, but you've got a fricking hard on for Orgeron. Your jealousy is thoroughly entertaining.

We forced a lot of turnovers.
And Dabo is not the only one who can score on Saban. He got in a shootout last year with Georgia who put up 400+ on him.
And I'm not sure you remember, but our schedule was a nightmare last year. So just let the year play out before we start throwing Aranda under the bus.

Yeah, well the numbers disagree with you, so take your contrarian shtick to some other argument.

Are you saying Orgeron overpaid him?
ETA: I’m guessing you didn’t grasp that trashing Aranda and calling him overpaid reflects poorly on Orgeron.
Aranda is worth the money he’s being paid. If you disagree, you should be looking at the HC who backed up the Brinks truck to keep the man in Baton Rouge.

I posted the numbers. Never worse than 8th in the advanced defensive metrics. Two top 5 defenses.
The Pirate King - OvErRaTeD.
The fact that he's more respected than Orgeron on this board really chaps your arse.

We all know they have sanctimonious pricks here. Never satisfied.
I question if they are LSU fans at all.

This is why we were carved up in coverage most of the night IMO.
I'm not defending Aranda, but regardless of his scheme, in that second half there were DB's that did not play the ball. On their last TD drive when Harris tackled the receiver in the endzone had he played the ball he could have got a pick. There were several plays where their receivers just flat out beat our man coverage, and that is uncharacteristic of an LSU DB. I felt our DB's should have had better one-on-one coverage in the second half and our pass rush was weak. IDK what O has seen in this group to call them the best DB backfield he has ever seen at LSU, but so far I have not seen it, not even close!

You can’t present facts to some of these hypocrites. There isn’t one year Aranda has been here and hasn’t had top 10 (being very conservative) talent across the defense. Sure we haven’t had the DL talent and depth we’ve had in the past but when you combine the overall defensive talent we’ve had with what everyone says is the best DC in the country the defense has underachieved.
The excuses for him were that our offense sucked, true, and that with a better offense our defensive unit rankings will improve. They wouldn’t acknowledge that our offense was great at not turning the ball over and special teams combined almost never allowed opponents great field position. Now we have a great offense and gave up 31 pts in a half with no stops and the same ones are arguing we are scoring too fast...had the defense performed well Saturday we get a few stops in the second half and win by 3-4 tds.

Yeah actually looking at the stats LINK we have finished 6th and 7th in the sec every year except 16 (his first year) under Aranda in 3rd down pct on defense.
Well we do play in the west and not the easy east. And we do have the hardest east opponents of any team in the west over the last 10 years.
So that has an impact. But our D has declined a bit. O has fixed the offense and has fixed the backside of the defense. Once he gets finishes with the D-line we will be back. Young lineman just don't normally have the impact that RB's and DB's can have.

They’ve been waiting since last winter to jump him. This narrative was started to deflect criticism of Orgeron and the offense and now that the offense is pulling its weight this faction of the Rant is foaming at the mouth. These people all refused to acknowledge the offensive problems of the past and always found a way to nit pick and try to blame his defense and now they’re going to ignore the 3 years he carried us. This guy has given up 18.9 points per game for LSU including a 7OT game and last week and now fans want him gone. The 2011 “greatest defense ever” gave up more yards to a less talented West Virginia team and these same fans blow that defense like nobody ever scored on it. What a bunch of clowns. You wanna blame the blame game after a win? Ok how about asking why Orgeron didn’t have the players properly hydrated, ask Orgeron why he didn’t give the IVs at halftime, ask Orgeron how in the hell he thought we were going to make it through a game at that pace in that heat with a 4 man Dline rotation.

Get a grip. We held Ga Southern to 98 yds. Texas is for real not the Texas of old and they will score a lot of points on everyone they play. Who do you think we are the New England Patriots? We are not a pro team and I bet last year you were all over Ensminger weren't you not Aranda.
Some people just have to bitch.

My goodness, can you not just give Texas some freaking credit on offense?? That is a very legit oline, coach, and qb..
Sheesh. Some of these offenses are more improved since 2014. Easy to have good some better defensive stats when you also play ball control. I remember West Virginia lighting up our 2011 defense through the air, but it didn't matter.
We are scoring more now too.. so it's very likely the D will be giving up more..
It's funny how much we are nitpicking now. I will take winning a shootout with an elite offense over a team that can't score.. a team that puts up 0 on alabama at home, yet everyone else can score on them..
the defense will be fine. just keep the DL getting healthy.
This is not true. It's weird how people live prisoner of the moment.
Tell me again where Chavis is coaching again?
Remind me again how Chavis looked in his last game at LSU again?
Chavis benefited from having insane elite level type of talent with a ball control running offense.. but he blew big games when it mattered most.
Also, I can't imagine LSU with Chavis now.. yikes..
Kevin Steele or whatever wasn't even that bad at LSU and everyone hated him here. He goes to Auburn and suddenly is considered elite. Not sure why people are hating on Aranda because Texas was in a shootout with LSU and nobody could stop anyone..
If you are also referring to the a&m game.. Believe it or not Aranda's D did make the necessary stop to win that a&m game, but the refs hosed LSU by extending the game which then became a game of tired/gassed defenses from both sides.. that's not on him. Look into the depth issues of last year and conditioning issues there.
I can't tell you how many times I have seen LSU fans blast Aranda in the first half, but he has made incredible adjustments in the 2nd half to where people are back to praising him. This Texas game was more of an exception IMO.
LSU held Georgia Southern under 100 yards rushing, 74 total rushing yards.. they were a 10 win team last year. Regardless who it is, that is insane.
Georgia Southern once rushed for 302 against the mighty Alabama and also put up 21 on them..
The defense should only improve as the season goes on btw.

"3rd and Chavis" did not happen as many times under Chavis as it has happened under Aranda. His inability to make one defensive stop when the game is on the line is mind-boggling.

Chavis was a prick but he was an elite DC who coordinated the best defense in college football history (2011)
His reputation is really skewed by Bama 12 and 14.
