We definitely could win it all this year. UF at home and Ole Miss on the road. Win one of those then the SECCG and bam.

when do you think LSU could be a LEGIT national title contender and why?
when we have a jr or sr quarterback and it is an odd year.

i think we play them in seccg, but uf is just way too good we are more a 2010 2011 team

The '09 championship runs right through Gainesville and if you think otherwise right now, you're as delusional as an Alabama fan.
Yes, UF is the team to beat if an SEC team has national title aspirations.
But I don't count out LSU as much as you seem to....that game is NOT be a repeat of last year's.

I think LSU has the talent and coaching where you have a shot every year for some time now.
anything can happen. If Tebow goes down in fall practice, Florida is in trouble. Not wishing it on him at all, but who knows whats in store.
Same can be said at Oklahoma or any other top team. Even USC has a young QB.
If our defense is able to step up and keep us in games and take pressure off of our young QB's so they can mature during the season, we may hit our stride by the end of next year, whether its JJ, RS or JL.
But chances are the following season we will be more primed having had our QB get one full season behind him.

Particularly the ones that will answer with something other than "NEXT YEAR!", or "'09!". It's not going to happen.
After the 2007 season, "not going to happen" left my vocabulary. I will say that 2009 has a lot of potential for a 10 or 11 win season, based on the talent on the team. The problem that the QB play didn't really improve until the very end of the season is a concern.
Assuming (and we have to, don't we?) that Chavis' scheme improves the passing defense to a modest level in the conference, and we hold the run defense we've enjoyed over the past few years, that should be the difference in all but the Florida and Georgia games from last year (and we have to play them again.)
If we run down the list:
@ Washington
Vandy
ULL
@ Miss State
@ UGA
Florida
Auburn
Tulane
@ Bama
LA Tech
@ Ole Miss
Arkansas
IF we can pull out the away opener then we (knock wood) go to Athens 4-0. Should we pull that one out, too, we should host Florida in a battle of the two previous BCS champs, and both in the Top 5. Depending on what else happens - that could be a #1 against #2 (with Florida probably #1).
Just looking at the schedule - if we don't make the run in 2009, 2011 is our next best opportunity. 2010 isn't horrible - but it depends primarily on how well Auburn is doing. We are @ Tulane, @ Vandy, @ Florida, @ Auburn, and @ Arkansas in 2010.
Home field means little in the Bama and Arkansas series. It is bigger in the games like UGA, Florida and Auburn.
