Ironic.

Beth Torina's squad may be the best-coached and most disciplined team out of all LSU varsity sports.

And people are here bitching and moaning about props supposedly proving they don't pay attention to the game?

Bosworth said it best..

NCAA = National Communist Against Athletes.

This wreaks of out of control regulation. The NCAA sucks.

I think the props and cheers are horrible and because of them softball is unwatchable to me. That being said, who cares. Just as baseball teams have a new "rally monkey" or hand sign after hits every year and basketball teams like Monmouth have celebrations after buckets these softball girls have these stupid props. I think they're stupid and I hate them, but should the NCAA a really go as far as banning them? I don't think so.

Tell that to ones that are actually playing the game. Don't lose sight that these ladies are still in their teenage and early twenties years.

I haven't forgotten,18 I consider an adult. But my point was and is losing isn't fun. If their mindset is to go out and have fun then they have the wrong mindset. Coaches don't get to keep their jobs because their players are having fun.

Yes because a football player waving a towel in excitement is the same as a preplanned routine with a horse mask and cat in the hat...hat

Not the same as the towel waving, but the same as cheerleaders doing prep landed routines with a person running around the field dressed as a mascot.

Seems like a shite move by the NCAA, if softball can't do it, then get rid of cheerleaders because they annoy me more than softball props.

How about we let Coach Torina and other coaches decide what goes on in the dugout. If it was truly a distraction for the players then the staff wouldn't allow it. 90% of the commenters on this thread have never even been to an LSU softball game.

As usual, the NCAA is worthless and sticks its nose where it doesn't belong.

I wasn't criticizing you at all. I was quoting a good comment made on the Ultimate Softball Forums last night.

because two schools have problems in football, the NCAA should ignore all other issues with all other sports?!?
LOL if you think there's only 2 programs with problems. There's surely 10 bagmen per every dugout prop.
Besides just what even makes stuffed baby tigers, rally monkeys, telephones, etc issues?
If that shite gets on your nerves, go apply more hemorrhoid cream and watch some golf.

you're completely missing my point - which is that there are different people in different NCAA departments that oversee different sports. The problems in football, for example, don't prevent the NCAA from dealing with softball issues. Different sports, different people, different rules.

Yea, I get that but it sets precedent for ban rally monkey, corn, walkout music, cap backwards or whatever causes their pompous asses to say tsk, tsk. There's plenty things in softball needing attention while NCAA is busy being being oppressive.
Besides, for quite a few, the props, girls having fun and enthusiasm is the draw. I know some expat Tiger fans that frequent S. Bama games for entertainment outings, not "love of the game".
