Would be a great story. A helluva lot has to happen before that fairy tale comes true though.
I think, if I were wanting to market future "serious" stories related to sports, this would be a chance to jump onto a good one. Seriously, if Stanford wins, we'll hear about Luck's ability etc, and how he turned the money down to come back. But if LSU wins and JJ is merely respectable next year, we'll see "highlight" films of all the gaffes, and then him waving the trophy at the end, with a big message about resilience and personal courage woven in. Ultimate underdog type of thing.

Do I THINK he's a hero? Nope. But he'll become one after everything is done, if things turn out for LSU.

He has to have one of the greatest offseason improvements to go from last years performance to respectable. I mean he was 108th ranked qb last year so I would say respectable would be making the top 50 in the country which you would think wouldnt be a big deal for an LSU qb but it is a ling way for JJ to go.

LSU and Miles are already doing a major PR job with JJ.

Without a doubt one of the biggest PR jobs I have seen for an LSU player in recent years including several players that actually put up good stats the year before. The problem is no matter how much preseason PR they put out JJ will still have to perform on the field!!!!!!!!!

If PP7 would have stayed, he would be the one being pumped for the heisman IMO.

Agree with this and PP7 getting PR and pumped for the Heisman would be an example of pushing a player who was an All American the year before coming into his senior season. JJ wouldnt have even been all state last year if there was such a thing. They are pushing a player who was one of the worst at his position in the country last year.

LSU isn't pushing this to my knowledge.

This is why the majority of us who are questioning this PR move are scratching our heads. It's not because we want LSU or Jefferson to fail, as the sunshine pumpers have made it out to be. Of course, you can't have a rational conversation with them that involves a little criticism of LSU. It's either all complimentary and irrational or bust with them. Either you're gloating about Jordan Jefferson being a legitimate Heisman candidate or you're a complete negative dick that hates LSU. Black or white.

Again. Can someone show me where LSU is running this campaign? It's been nothing more that ESPN chatter of Jefferson being a DARK HORSE candidate IF LSU is undefeated and playing for a championship. I haven't seen an official release from the SID like they did with PP7 last year.

Hold on, let me get Michael Bonnette on the phone and ask him to provide me with a report of what he's been doing for the last six months.

You can be a smart arse all you want but an official campaign HAS NOT been unleashed by LSU. The Heisman chatter was from ONE GUY on an ESPN blog so far. That's it.

Okay fine they are not running a Heisman campaign for him but you cant deny there is a concerted PR campaign to convince people he is a competent qb. If he was/is a competent qb he can show that on the field. Obviously he wasnt last year and nothing so far indicates he is this year except his campaign. We are hearing the same old song and dance as last year amped up considerably. So if it isnt a Heisman campaign why does LSU need to run such an intensive PR campaign to convince people JJ is a competent qb. There is none for Ware, Baker or TREX for example but of course their play on the field has already convinced people they are competent or better.

Or they're a top ranked team and JJ is the senior starting QB and most recognizable so he's the one that gets all the tv time. Im not sure how you get that they're trying to convince people of anything by sitting him in a suit in front of a camera.

read above

we all get it. you hate JJ...which is pretty obvious considering how much a few interviews pisses you off. But that doesn't mean this is some massive PR conspiracy. Honestly....i don't think Miles gives a shite what the media thinks,

Ever think that maybe, JUST MAYBE ESPN called and requested JJ for those interviews? He's one the most veteran QBs in the country and will be leading a top 5 team to start the year. People like you are just going to have to deal with it for now. Why the frick would you be pissed that LSU is getting all of this publicity?

Uh actually I was referring more to Miles' constant PR campaign for Jefferson which I think probably had something to do with whom ESPN picked. Not to mention I would prefer to see someone who has actually performed well on the field representing LSU. I mean how many fans of opposing teams are laughing seeing one of the worst starting qb's in the country representing LSU.
