I figured they’d wear white since it’s supposed to be pretty warm on Saturday then wear purple against south Alabama.

Could have been a Captains decision, maybe some of the recruits in the building wanted it, maybe the 18's voted.

White hats, white shirts, black or grey britches. That's the only way it should be.

We should save this for the South Alabama game.

Since the Sissy Blue shirts are still lighter than our purple, why can't UCLA wear them? I don't recall them having white unis.

This is what the purple/alternate jersey tradition typically follows.
1. Any home game where away team states they want to wear white. Or any road game where the home team asks to wear white and LSU agrees
2. The 2nd non-conference home game against a non-power opponent (ucla being an exception here)
3. They are not worn on senior night regardless of the team

They definitely do have white uniforms and wear them sometimes but in recent years, they wore the sissy blue and USC wore their maroon in their annual matchup.

LSU’s white jerseys and UCLA’s light blue jerseys are both way better looking. I was looking forward to kicking some sissy blue asses.

USC doesn’t wear maroon. They wear cardinal red.
Maroon would be what teams like Mississippi State and Texas A&M wear.

They call it cardinal red but it is a lot darker than the cardinal red that the St Louis and Arizona Cardinals wear.

Yes. Bert had a younger brother, Ben, who also played at LSU. Their time at LSU overlapped in the 1972 year. Their jerseys had their first and last names that year.

I was looking forward to our classic whites vs sissy blue. I know we have plenty of recent success in purple, but I will always and forever have Purple Jersey PTSD from the train wreck 89-94 seasons.
