Read somewhere today that was the first completion over 10 yard he gave up all season. That is just dominance. Part of playing CB is that you will give up big plays every now and then. That he made it all the way to game 9 without giving up the big play is outstanding.

Yeah, he gave up a TD pass, not the end of the world. That man is good and now he is refocused so not worried about him

I've never been a huge fan of him returning punts
As to this part of the post:
Will it be Chark or Donte returning punts next year?
Here's what I think I have seen this year from T White on punt returns. He's had a few questionable fair catches inside the 10 yard line. He is sure handed. Often times he reverses himself when he catches the ball only to get caught for a loss of more yards than he would have gained had he just run straight ahead. In the open field his speed is good enough, but it seems like he doesn't have that quick burst that would allow him to make those first wave of tacklers miss.
All of that to say - I have wondered why they haven't given the two underclassmen a chance at PR.

I agree. I think miles had given him that job and O didn't want to "demote" number 18.
In regards to who should do what: IMO at PR you want a good hard-cut guy with solid speed, and KR you want a strider with top end speed.
Ideally this year Guice would be our best PR option and Donte and Chark best KR options. Though Donte (preferably) or Chark would do well on punts too
Next year with Guice starting give me Donte on punts and Chark on KO.

Thorpe award winners don't get toasted like this or trucked twice in one game. Goals are nice, but championships are better.

The WR slowed down and then turned to his head, white matched his speed and then turned his head to look for the ball. It's instinctive as a DB to look for the ball when the WR does if you are in good position. The WR immediately took off the split second white turned, great play by him.
That may well be what happened.
But as I watched the play in real time, I was sure there was a whistle blown. Everything he did was consistent with hearing a whistle stopping play. It looks to me like he saw everyone else continue to play and then it was too late to catch up.
Whether there was actually a whistle or not - his reactions were as if he heard one.

I wouldn't say I was questioning his skill. I would question his judgement on punt returns. It makes me wonder if the coaches ever discuss punt return strategy with him or they just stick him back there and tell him to do what his natural proclivities tell him to do.

He played an all around terrible game, worthy of being benched, in that game.
The WR just made an exceptional play. He faked White into a back shoulder pattern and he bit. Allen delivered the ball on the money. Only way he could have done better was fail safe on the long ball and give up the back shoulder throw or just grab that jersey and take a ride like so many CB's do these days.

Any idea how the other nominees have done this season?
Bet the Heisman winner has thrown a few interceptions or fumbled

That being said, he's been a great tiger and i'm not bothered by his play from this game one bit, since it didn't affect the outcome of winning. happens to the best of 'em. Forget about it and move on.
Benched?!?!!!?? Really. I agree he had a bad game, but benching him is unreasonable.

He is a stalwart. That said, he did have a bit of a rough time Saturday. I agree that the coaching staff has done him no favors putting him back to return punts.

That's what I thought live too
Watch the replay and focus on the WR: 48:00 mark
He did act like the play was over, it was sold by the WR though. No other player including the safety on his man slowed down.
The WR pulled up out of his sprint into a jog then turned his head. On 3rd and long to a DB this signals a draw, a sack, or the ball going to a different WR. White slowed down and pulled up with him then the WR immediately goes back into a sprint when white turns his head. It was deliberate and a great move IMO

Basically all the over analysis in this thread can simply be attributed to him having a bad game. They happen.

On the post game show they said he thought he heard a whistle ending the play.
