We have all these top recruits the last few years. Man I'm not blaming cutrera, either you have or you don't. Its not his fault at all. I don't go around trying put someone down but this has been eating at me for a long time. Do really think Cutrera would start for damn near any SEC school. If you beleive
that crap then you need your head examined.
In other words...you have no clue.

Ethan your right to I know he tries hard and I see that too but the ability is not there. Thats all i'm trying to say. Some LSU fans walk around with blinders on.

One more comment about Cutrera
You're just digging that hole...deeper and deeper. You know nothing...you're not smarter than Miles or Chavis...you're just another putz that thinks the world revolves around you luminance. JSTFU.

What's wrong with his game? What does he do that you don't like?
Posted on 8/24/09 at 10:04 pm to RummelTiger
It's ashame LSU can't attract freaky athletic linebackers like Tim Pope, Trey Blackmon and Willie Williams...

the coaches seem to be putting a lot of stock in cutrera
kinda scary considering he's been way less than impressive his first 3 years

You may not be trying, but you sure are succeeding at it.
You might want to quit while you're still able to feel your arse where it is. Some of these guys are going to hand you your arse.
Oh well, I couldn't get in before the thread was anchored.

You're right I'm stupid! It was a dreaming when Darren Mcfadden ran around him for not one but two touchdowns when he was an inch away from him. I was dreaming when JPW (alabama Qb) made him look ridiculous in the open field one on one. I was dreaming when the guy miss two tackles on the same player. I been watching this guy. What have you seen that gives you any inkling of an argument that he can play SEC Football. Never said I was a coach but I know I'm not say anything about LSU Football. Its cool when you go along with the program. When you say something thats perceived to be negative then the harsh name calling begins. Never said I was Les Miles, Chavis or any other coach. Keep thinking you have a solid MLB in Cutrera.

DAAAAAAAAAAAMN.
Dude, chill. No one but you or me is looking at this thread anymore. It's about to be off of the front page with the Admin anchor.

that this is his 4th year playing SEC football

I agree about the mcfadden incident. I distinctly remeber mcfadden hitting the hole, almost running into cutrera, cutrera ignoring him, & him busting it for like 80 yards & a td. On another level, it just showed me that he wasn't a tenth the player that ali was at linebacker. I think ali had like 18 tackles that game.
With that said, being a senior, I hope he's improved dramatically over the offseason & that's why he's penciled in as the starter & not because the other recruits at linebacker haven't lived up to billing. On the few plays that Ryan Baker has been turned loose in each game, he has always been in on the play. I'll def be watching this position intently & hope Jacob has matured into a dominant SEC linebacker.

I think in the Les Miles era at LSU the better player doesn't always see the playing field.
Your bias is revealed in this statement. The previous coach was and remains LEGENDARY for doghouses. Miles does put players in the doghouse as well (and who knows how much of it is deserved by the player), but I have not seen any sort of significant bias that keeps the "better" player on the bench, other than a slight, natural bias for a senior, more experienced player seeing the field, in some cases ahead of a younger player that is perceived to be more athletic or more capable. And even this judgment that I am making - I make it with the admission that I don't know what goes on at practice, and I don't KNOW if the younger player is necessarily ready.
Interesting to note that you mention two players, Cutrera and McCray, both defensive players, while Miles is an offensive coach. Do you think that Miles is overriding the decisions of his defensive coordinators on these types of personnel decisions? Chavis is both the LB coach and the DC. Don't you think he would insist on playing the best player, especially at Mike, regardless of seniority or Miles' preference?
Please feel free to support another school (perhaps one located in Central Alabama) if you are this obviously biased against our head coach.
As to your larger point about LBs - this has been a chronic problem for LSU, really going back a while. We have a tough time getting numbers, but we usually get enough good players at the position to get by. The Bradie James/Trev Faulk era was an anomaly, in that we had two All-SEC quality players on the team at the same time at the position.

I agree Cutrera has struggled over the past 3 years, and I don't see it getting any better. I lost faith after the Ole Miss game, the guy just isn't very physical bottom line. But, Cutrera is and has been a guy with tons of upside, he has great size and he runs well. If he shows up proves he can play physical football he will have a great year, If not I hope Miles pu

I didn't mean to hit submit
If Cutrera continues to struggle Miles will pull the plug. The problem is, who replaces Cutrera. I think Baker ends up in the middle, but I don't think he is physically ready yet. Shep is most likely.

I truly believe we do have players who are better at that position.
quote:Well, which is it, O Sage of Stadium Drive? LSU either has someone "better" than Cutrera, as you "truly believe," or it so lacking in talent at the position that there is no one better to take his place.
That's the scary part who is better than him.
Still waiting to hear your expert opinion on who should be playing ahead of him.

Mallveto is gone son. I think Chavis knows how to evaluate LB talent. That's his expertise. He must see something in Cutrera that he likes. It's not always pure speed and athleticism that makes a good LB. Look at Luke Sanders. He wasn't the greatest speed athlete in the world, but Saban recruited him and Pelini later thought he was good enough to start for several years. Didn't we win the NC in 2007 with Sanders starting at MLB? I don't see much difference between Sanders and Cutrera. Defensive QB's that call the signals on the field are always needed. They make everybody else around them better, even if they aren't making that many plays themselves......
