Hey, don't you leave out my upstart Sun Devils!
We're top 25 in most polls.
Well according to my poll, your avatar's cleavage is number one.

Let me make sure I get this right..... playing Fl St, Tulsa and Ball St is the toughest OOC in the country?
Texas playing Rice BYU and UCLA is #4?
Hawaii, Colo st and OSU can get you #3?
Minn Syr ND is #2?
Can you see the flaw here folks?

no i cant see what you mean....i mean those all sound like a bunch of juggernauts to me...thank God we dont have to go through the riggers of that schedule

The fact of the matter, puddin butt, is that SEC schools don't have to play tough OOC games to get in the NC... nor should they. To get through the SEC you have to negotiate a schedule packed with the best of the best in the nation. This is why it is possible for a one loss SEC champion team to jump an undefeated team from another conference in BCS rank.
You Pac 12 homers can toot the Oregon, Stanford, USC horn all you want but that just doesn't measure up to LSU, Bama, Fla, UGA, Auburn, and even Arky. To say otherwise is disingenuous.

Its very simple to show how its flawed.
The conference with the best teams will ALWAYS be lower than others in polls like this because they do not get to count games against the top teams while other conferences that play the top conf teams do get to count them.
For example:
A PAC 10 team could schedule say three top 5 teams from the SEC
A SEC team could schedule the three best teams from the PAC10 which may be 1 top 5, 1 top 15 and 1 top 25.
Despite the SEC team playing the best from the PAC 10, the SAME top SEC teams plus 3 other SEC teams ranked in the top 25. 100% of the time the PAC 10 team above will have a better SOS in polls like that.
Its just horribly flawed.

You should of stated that this report is BS because the SEC is the best. You would of got a much better response. Remember to fluff.

The Pac-12 folk also like to breakdown how they have the superior bowl record.
Let's look further at bowl matchups though.
Here's a breakdown of 2011 Bowl Tie-In matchups:
Note #1: the number doesn't denote actual SEC team rank, but what order a bowl gets to pick, although it closely follows conference ranking.
Note #2: In more years, than not, the SEC sends 2 teams to the BCS. While the Pac 12 only sends 1 team in most years. Thus the pecking order of the team is actually 1 lower.
As you'll see, the SEC usually plays a superiorly "ranked" team in its bowl matchup. With only 1 of 9 bowl tie-in coming against a non-BCS conference. Meanwhile, the Pac-12 plays 3 of its 7 bowl games against non-BCS conference teams.
Sugar Bowl: SEC #1 vs At-Large
Capital One: SEC #2 vs Big 10 #2
Gator Bowl: SEC #3/#4/#5 vs Big Ten #4
Cotton Bowl: SEC #3/4/5 vs Big 12 #2
Outback: SEC #3/4/5 vs Big 10 #3
Chick-fil-A: SEC #6 vs ACC #2
Music City: SEC #7/8 vs ACC #6
Liberty Bowl SEC #8/9 vs C-USA #1
Compass Bowl SEC $8/#9 vs Big East #5
Rose Bowl: Pac-12 #1 vs Big 10 #1
Alamo Bowl Pac-12 #2 vs Big 12 #3
Sun Bowl Pac-12 #3 vs ACC #4/Big East #2
Holiday: Pac-12 #4 vs Big 12 #5
Las Vegas Pac-12 #5 vs MWC #1
Hunger Bowl Pac-12 #6 WAC #1/2/3
New Mexico Pac-12 #7 vs MWC #3/4
BCS National Championship games:
SEC 7-0
Pac 12: 0-2 (2004 USC vacated)
SEC vs Pac-12 Bowl matchups in the BCS Era:
SEC 1 - Pac-12 0 (last year's championship game)

That is nice, but why schedule tough OOC when one's own conference is the toughest in the country. The PAX 10 on the other hand...
Posted on 8/17/11 at 5:18 pm to JDubOregon
So Maryland has a tougher OOC schedule than LSU?
Maryland plays West Virginia at home, we play West Virginia on the road. More difficult for LSU.
We play Oregon on a neutral field, they play Notre Dame on a neutral field. More difficult for LSU.
They play Towson at home, we play Northwestern St at home. Wash.
They play Temple at home, we play Western Kentucky at home. More difficult for Maryland, but not nearly enough to make up for 1 and 2.
These rankings are a joke.

Yea, but Maryland has to play with a handicap. Gary Crowton

It looks like the better conferences don't need the ooc clout.

I wish the OP would comment on how bogus this poll actually is. I'm guessing he didn't actually look at the rankings too hard, even though there were "no surprises".

This report is all about who you play out of conference. It's not showing the SEC in a negative light because they schedule good teams that aren't SEC teams. It's cause the vast majority of their games are with the little girls school for the blind 4 times a season.
^ Denotes Ranked Team
OREGON SCHEDULE:
* LSU^
* Nevada
* Missouri State
* Arizona
* California
* Arizona State
* Colorado
* Washington State
* Washington
* Stanford^
* USC
* Oregon State
Now THAT is a frickin monster schedule...i dont see how Oregon does it...*Sarcasm Button*
LSU SCHEDULE:
* Oregon^
* Northwestern State
* Mississippi State^
* West Virginia^
* Kentucky
* Florida^
* Tennessee
* Auburn^
* Alabama^
* Western Kentucky
* Ole Miss
* Arkansas^
And since LSU admittedly has a very strong schedule, let's look at say, Florida.
FLORIDA SCHEDULE
* Florida Atlantic
* UAB
* Tennessee
* Kentucky
* Alabama^
* LSU^
* Auburn^
* Georgia^
* Vanderbilt
* South Carolina^
* Furman
* Florida State^
Oregon plays two ranked teams all year; LSU, seven; Florida, 6.
Oregon plays LSU and Stanford, Florida plays Bama, LSU, Auburn, and Georgia back to back to back to back. Please, don't talk strength of schedule with the SEC.
PAC10 fans keep hiding behind OOC SOS, trying to hide the fact that their In Conference SOS blows.

It is quite obvious that Oregons toughest game isn't even a conference game
Posted on 8/17/11 at 6:02 pm to Topwater Trout
remind me again how lsu is 14 in OOC SOS and oklahoma is 1? have you looked at their respective schedules? OU only plays 3 OOC games and the only big one is FSU so wtf? I question the ranking system. It's flawed. does not compute. Oregon ranked higher than FSU, WVU better than tulsa or ball st. 4 OOC better than 3. so again wtf?
Posted on 8/17/11 at 6:10 pm to rpenni4
the reason the SEC has a low rating on OOC schedules is because the other conferences play the SEC OOC and that makes thier OOC schedule stronger. The SEC gets screwed in ooc rankings bc we have to play other conferences that are not as strong as the sec

I'm just happy you PAC fans have this guy's opinion to hang your hat on, seeing as you don't have any crystal to talk about.
I'm sure this OOC stuff means the world to y'all.
