Texas is top ten of composite talent ratings. They were top 15 talent when Herman walked on campus.

perhaps they had talent, but they had 3 straight losing seasons.

So if they had decent talent when Herman got there, they were drastically underperforming. And Herman's had two top-3 classes, so he's been a huge upgrade recruiting-wise.

You couldn’t be more wrong as far as what this confirms or doesn’t for O. He just won 10 and a NY6 vs a team with a 25 game winning streak and they destroyed AU the previous NY6. O could lose and it be obvious he was out coached (He’s proven he can outcosxh big names like Kirby) and if he turned it around beats both Alabama schools he could have lost another game win 10 and the bowl and get another raise.

And they should be a top ten team.

we can all cherry-pick numbers from last year.

We had one P5 win against a good team (Georgia). Other than that, our P5 wins were against teams with 6, 5, 7, 5, and 10 losses.

And UCF, with that wonderful 25 game win streak? Come on. They play a weak schedule, were playing with their backup QB, and we won by 8 points.

The added factor that the game was being played against a program coached by a man who was LSU's favored choice over our current one would not make any difference for me personally.

So let me get this straight

Coach O, a coach many LSU fans are either on the fence about or just hold in disdain, leading LSU to victory ON THE ROAD AGAINST THE SUPERIOR COACH EVERYONE WANTED IN A HIGH STAKES GAME would not make any difference to YOU? Interesting

quote:

Again...these guys are not wrestling or playing chess. It is not more a contest between these two coaches specifically than it between our two QB's. This is a simplistic way of looking at team sports.

I never made this argument, I primarily argued that this game is a tremendous opportunity for O (though I consider this game a referendum game on the efficacy of his hire and articulated as such) to make a statement to LSU nation about the credibility of his tenure and maybe his hire by defeating the TOP TEN team coached by the superior guy everyone wanted back in 2016 ON THE ROAD.

quote:

Orgeron will further gain respect by winning big games against quality opponents...NOT because his teams beats the team of a guy who was LSU's choice for coach before him.

But here's the catch though: he's coaching against the team of a guy who was LSU's choice for coach before AND coaching against a quality opponent SIMULTANEOUSLY in a few weeks

quote:

You continue to equate beating Texas with beating Herman.

quote:

But anyone who puts stock in a team win meaning that our coach is suddenly better than their coach

I never made this argument, you're raising strawmen, no one in their right mind would think O's superior to Herman if he wins in a few weeks that's insane BUT him leading LSU over Herman's team in light of what occurred in 2016, I argue, gives O and maybe his hire credibility with his in-house detractors, well should give unless they're a bunch of stubborn Negas

quote:

O's piled up MANY wins the last couple of years

So did the previous coach who we fired in favor of Orgeron...did he not? He averaged 10 wins a season over his career. He was let go because of his inability to beat BAMA and get back to competing for SECW titles and beyond. Piling up wins at LSU is clearly not enough on its own to keep this job. At some point, it's wins plus hardware.

You're the one who opened the door about "piling up MANY wins" without providing a sufficient definition or parameter by which to advocate and I ran right through it, sorry not sorry boss

Yes, Texas fans are still on the fence with him...After he won the sugar bowl in his second season...Some of you guys are crazy.

But coaches don't think like this.

The great ones do. For reference see Nick Saban (at UA) vs. LSU and Steve Spurrier (at UF) vs. LSU.

You're saying the same thing over and over again. Os LSU team beating hermans Texas does not in any way mean LSU got the better end of the deal. Just stop

It means LSU was better that day. Tip the cap to O and move on. I will be proud of O for winning a tough game.

Still, It could easily be argued that(even if he loses THIS game) a Herman led LSU could be even better. So this whole thing is meaningless to argue for or against.

With half our starters out. We won 10 with one if the toughest schedules in the country period. And we dominated at times. Helluva season. And this year the schedule is still a top 10. And that’s just an testament to how brutal several other Sec schools drew
