the lack of tailgating kills the energy for the students. frankly, students generally cheer only if they're sauced. I also tend to think people are just vain, and being so close to those front few rows makes students think "I'm too cool to do that". I'll cheer, yes, but I'm guilty of not being as rowdy for basketball than football.
i have to say that it's great being able to sneak in whatever you'd like. I'm sure that would quickly change if the student section was as wild as football

It was a 1 PM basketball game after a Friday night.... Not many students wake up from their hangovers and want to go to a basketball game.

Nah. Not much different than our final 4 run in 06. Started out the year 8-5 before SEC play. Team had zero buzz, was not ranked much of the year & the PMAC never stayed consistently full. This team has the same potential & our fans are missing some great basketball.

This seems like a perfect opportunity for the athletic department to make this a priority point game for the students. Actually, I'm not sure why every basketball game isn't a point game - at least 1/2 a point per game. Anything at all to help make basketball a priority to the students would be an improvement.

As a student who has been to 6 games this year and many in years past. I hardly ever actually sit in the student section, I go find better empty seats somewhere else. Many students do this fwiw.

If the students don't wanna go to the games frick em! If I can carry my tired azz down from Shreveport for several games, they can get their dead hungover lazy azzes out of their beds and get over and support the tigers.
