I thought he was very good this year. Just because he didn't have a Charles Woodson year doesn't mean he sucked.

PP7 is one of the better players LSU has had in the past decade and yet we berate him?
Calm down.

I started my OP with 'PP is a great player.'

"Seemed out of sync" is not exactly "berating a player."

And I stand by that statement. He didn't "lock down" Fuller. Fuller had 7 catches for 83 yards with his longest reception of 19 yards and PP was on him the entire night.

honestly PP's been a disappointment over the last 7-8 games. He has had big plays against him time and time again and not many created by him and certianly he's been more than disappointing on kick-off/punt returns in that same time.

Fuller had ZERO TDS last night and one catch in the second half.

Topic been beaten to death. How can anyone make a judgment call on Peterson since the network showed so little of the secondary coverage?

Top 5 - 10 pick in the draft. Enough said.

It was awesome what he did on Mathieu's awesome play that was called back. He just took his WR out of the play on the line of schrimmage.

Ah the classic any highly rated player that doesn't play well was busy thinking about his NFL future.

Yeah Fuller took him to school because PP was playing off not giving anything deep. Ugh.

Rough game for Peterson in relation to his standards is what I would call it.

No one is saying he sucked, but he was manned up at times (an out route right near the sideline comes to mind) and while he was in position to make a play, he did not break up any passes. I thought Mathieu outplayed him last night, personally.

Did you watch the game or did you watch the ball? PP was playing to scheme. The throws were all back shoulder throws, comebacks, or quick inside hits, all just great timing. None of them got YAC, so PP7 did his job. He didn't play "lights out" but he did his job and did it well.

Most of these mongoloids don't understand what they're watching. Did you notice how the OP implied that it was Peterson's decision to line up 7-10 yards deep?

Peterson also seemed to have this weird body language last night, almost like "Huh? They are not supposed to throw to my side." Again, he had a decent game, but not up to his own standards, and he would tell you that himself.

Exactly what I said in the "other" threads. Maybe on T.V. it was hard to tell but at the game you noticed that once aTm fell two scores behind they were forced to go away from Fuller because they needed Big plays and PP wasn't going to give them one. Fuller tried a double move on two seperate occasions and PP hung right with him forcing the QB to throw to the other side. One of those occasions resulted in Simon's pick, I think because the weakside receiver felt they were going to throw Fuller's way. Peterson was solid. Yes he allowed six short range completions and had six tackles with no YAC allowed to speak of. On top of that he had two KO returns of 30+ to set up the field position.

agree 100%. Peterson didn't play bad and gave up no big plays. But I bet he the guy he was covering had more catches than any other player PP covered all year (including Julio). We have gotten accustomed to them not even going to that side of the field and yesterday they had no problem picking up 6-7 on PP

For the most part, Fuller caught very well thrown back shoulder passes that are difficult to defend.

I'm not making excuses for him, but you have to consider that Fuller was their main man at receiver and his impact was limited to being a possession man. Fuller had zero big plays and zero scores.

Peterson's performance was underwhelming, but he did keep that guy out of the end zone, which is huge.

EXACTLY.

Mathieu, Reid, and Simon had opportunities because Peterson took A&M's main deep threat out of the game.

Don't you know that JJ is the only player people are allowed to bash here on the Rant?

I forgot. Thanks for the reminder.

And my post was not intended to "bash" PP. I think is the best defensive back we've had in a long time. He just didn't seem to play his best game last night and I fully expected him to go out with a bang.
