Oh, that's right. They were scared to death of Deion fighting off a WR's block and then blowing up a wedge of O-Lineman. Damn, what was I thinking?

You really think Revis is a run-stopper? WTF do you guys think corners are paid to do?

Deon was talked about as far as tackling goes only because it was his ONLY weakness compared to his other abilities. He wasn't that bad.

My God, by your logic, an NFL would rather Ray lewis playing corner. frickING DUMB. So Deon wasn't a great tackler, put the DE in containment and the rest of the field on that side was SHUT DOWN for business.

And DUMB F*CK, corners contain and turn the screen back inside where the backers and safeties should be. "Blowing up a wedge of O-Linemen" is the dumbest description of a NFL corners' assignments I have ever heard!

This just shows me how pathetic your football IQ really is. He was one of the worst tackling CB's ever. He easily whiffed at RB's three to four times a game. If the RB was coming straight at him to bull him over, he would side step and try to throw his arms half arse at his legs. Pathetic tackler.

Peterson is a bettr version of Jenkins with the saints. Not a true shutdown cover corner but a great athlete who can cover and will be switched to safety eventually, probably after a season or two at corner.

Peterson is much faster than Jenkins.

Too early to predict. Ask again in about 5 or so years. Definitely think he is tougher.

Do you always lie just to try to prove a point? I'll bet you $10,000 you can't find 2 games back to back where he "whiffed" 3 times on a rb. I dare you to take my bet.

See, your IQ is that of a hamster who hears and reads things but never really takes the time to learn anything on your own.

SO I guess Darrell Green sucked too right? You don't know a fricking thing boy.

Has not yet played a down in the NFL.

very true, he definetaly has the speed, but I don't think he has the hips or change of direction to cover like a glove , like a smaller lighter CB. Like Porter or Greer. He will be an all-pro at safety. As good as Ed Reed or better.

First thing that came to my mind.

Deion certainly had some wheels but so does PP7. Insignificant difference IMO.

But Deion wasn't big; PP is. It would be intersting to see how Deion would match up against the more physical receivers (e.g., Julio and Greene). In PP's case, he matched up well.

One example would be Michael Irvin. Obviously, I don't know what coverages FSU was in but Irvin had a field day against Deion's team in '87 - see box score below.

Deon had great 'change of direction' and was a true shutdown corner, as true a shutdown corner as you will ever see. Peterson is not that. But has his own great abilities. Two very different players.

Then why didn't he shut down Irvin in '87?

one game in college in 1987 against Michael Irvin? Grant you it wasn't his best game as Irvin made 4 receptions for a lot of yards. Being a great shutdown corner doesn't mean that someone doesn't occasionally catch some balls in your direction. Some times it happens, especially if your playing against another great player.

In the NFL, it is a significant difference.

however, i do believe PP has the POTENTIAL to be a HOF DB, but not the potential to be a Deion

I agree with everything you've typed in this post but only parts of the previous one.

When someone attempts to compare two players of which one had already completed his career and the other near his start it's a lot of speculation. Deion was great. But PP is just as great at the same point in their respective careers.

Imagine if DS and PP were in the same draft class; who would you take? At this point, PP is a more complete player than DS was in college. DS had some glaring weaknesses; PP has none such.

PP7 has the ability to be better than Sanders ever was, IMO.

I think Peterson greatly benefitted in the return game from great blocking schemes set up by the return units... Rarely did he have to make 4,5,6 or more guys miss.

Impossible to compare. I do not think you could compare him to Deion because they are so different. I think a more fair comparison would be to Bailey.

PP is gonna be a real good PRO PLAYER, But he is NOT even close to Deion.Sanders could basically cover half the feild by himself,AND if you look at how many times the ball was NOT thrown at him is unreal.
